Bonnie Brock designed and installed my new garden last summer. Without exaggeration I have enjoyed my new garden every single day since then. Bonnie is skilled at gathering the information she needs in order to create a garden just for you. She is a patient, intuitive listener. She is highly knowledgeable about all aspects of landscaping so she is able to give important guidance and give good advice when requested, always tactfully. Bonnie came up with beautiful and creative solutions to my individual site and wishes. Bonnie and her contractors are personable and reliable – and just really fun to work with. I had a wonderful time throughout the process and I absolutely love the results. Many friends have admired my new garden and asked for the name of the designer. Of course, I am happy and confident to recommend Bonnie for their projects.

Bonnie is an amazing designer and a consummate professional. She listens to your interests and adapts accordingly but will also step in if she thinks you are making problematic design choices. She has a great vision and really pays attention to the materials chosen. She does not cut corners and invests in high-quality materials and work, but also offers lower-cost alternative ideas where possible. Bonnie completely converted my grass front yard on a corner lot with a slight slope, to interesting trees and plants with low watering needs - and a hardscape walkaway to give our home curb appeal. Probably what I appreciate most about the work she did is: 1) The end product / front yard looks beautiful, with a complementary color palate, which has wonderful surprises in each season. 2) She has a great relationship with her contractors but also has high standards and makes sure any mistakes are corrected - she is a perfectionist! 3) She is into conservation and works that into her designs, materials, and equipment. Bonnie was a joy to work with. She brought fresh ideas to our backyard landscaping project, while working to preserve or reuse elements already in place. She was extremely adaptable and an excellent listener, who helped us formulate a vision of what the yard could be and then turn it into reality. The sub-contractors she employed were all excellent and we've retained the gardening crew to maintain the work they installed. Bonnie is also budget conscious and looked for ways to keep our costs down without compromising on aesthetics. Whenever we made changes or asked for alternatives, Bonnie always obliged with a positive attitude that made us feel she was a true partner in the project. I'd give Bonnie my highest recommendation.

Bonnie is a talented designer with exceptional ideas and customer service. We wanted to upgrade both our front and back yards, and gave her high-level goals of having a landscape that was low maintenance, low water usage, and colorful all year around. She more than exceeded our expectations with her designs and ideas. We were thrilled that she had contractors that she regularly works with; she handled all the quotes and interface with the customers. Her communications with us were timely and the project went pretty much per schedule. We’re delighted with the results and cannot recommend Bonnie highly enough!

A little more than a year ago we asked Bonnie Brock to redesign our plants and hardscape. We are extremely pleased with the result. Specifically we asked her to design and install a new landscape that was visually attractive, compatible with our mid-century modern house, required little maintenance, need minimal irrigation, and that produces little or no runoff. Her design has worked perfectly on all counts. During the construction process, the individuals and companies used/recommended by Bonnie were, without exception, honest, reliable, highly competent, and considerate of us and our neighbors. Bonnie took our front yard down to dirt (other than a few large trees) and started over, creating a masterpiece. We get many compliments on the result, including from complete strangers as they walk by our house. We can't wait to see how things look a year or two from now, after the plants have time to mature and fill in. Bonnie managed the project and her subcontractors very professionally, everything was done on time and within budget, and she was very good at keeping us informed of next steps or decisions we had to make. Bonnie did a large front yard project for us this past fall 2021. We couldn’t be more pleased at the creativity and beauty that Bonnie brought to our home! These are the reasons we would recommend Bonnie: 1.Good Listener: At our first meeting with Bonnie, my husband and I outlined several elements we wanted for the front yard. After that one meeting, she then developed 2 plans of the front yard. We combined the top half of one and the bottom half of the other and she came up with a plan that incorporated the best of both. I couldn’t believe it could be that simple and done that quickly! That reflects Bonnie’s ability to hear what we wanted and then, adding her own creative ideas, she quickly came up w a viable elevated design. 2.Knowledgeable and High Standards: Bonnie is super knowledgeable with all aspects of the projects. Our front yard is part sun/part shade – challenging. Bonnie was very careful to note the sun pattern and choose plants appropriately for each area of the lawn. She was also very astute in that she suggested we consolidate the controller in the backyard which was 6 years old and replace/merge with the new Smart controller she was installing for the front yard. She took three meetings with us to assess what plants we liked, the look we wanted and what would work in terms of low water usage and maintenance. She was very patient and helpful with this part of the project. 3.Great People on Her Team: Bonnie is a great project manager and has super high standards of the work. She divided our project into phases: landscape design (Bonnie), then execution of the hardscape (Unique Concrete Creations), then demo and softscape (Carlos Guzzman) and then plant selection (Bonnie). Ignacio and his crew at Unique Concrete Creations were masters at all the stone work and hardscape – many of his crew have been with him a very long time. Ignacio was on the job site continually, very personable, always checking in with us via text. The soft scape phase was with Carlos Guzzman, the landscaper and he too has a great crew, hardworking, always on time; Carlos is kind and accommodating doing anything we wanted and worked with my husband on a certain design of the fence which Carlos built and it came out amazing, many favorable comments from the neighbors! 4.Personable and Accommodating: Bonnie is personable and comes always with a smile on her face, she is easy going, gently give her opinion, responsive to any requests we had. Even 2 months after the project was completed, we had a water valve problem, and after one text to Bonnie, an hour later, Carlos was at our house and fixed the problem. We were referred to Bonnie when our original landscape architect's timing didn't work with ours, and couldn't have been happier. She did an amazing job understanding (and enhancing our vision), stayed on time and on budget, and introduced us to wonderful hardscape and softscape contractors who were dedicated, punctual and did high-quality work. Our yard now feels like an extension of our home from the beautiful stonework to a sport court to a rock pathways, lighting and a beautiful assortment of mainly drought-resistant plants and trees. Bonnie's expertise coupled with her willingness to listen and seek input from the client helped make our project better that we could have imagined, and we appreciate her ongoing communication and engagement with us as our garden "settles in" since being planted. We loved her low-key but very knowledgeable and thorough vibe. While our project was not inexpensive, Bonnie's fees felt very reasonable and we were impressed that she was able to start and finish in a timely manner. We feel we discovered a gem in Bonnie and are happy to spread the word!

We worked with Bonnie to re-landscape both our front and back yards. We have been so pleased with the collaboration, and are loving the outcome of this project! Bonnie was able to translate our abstract vision into reality. In the backyard we wanted multiple spaces to hang out in, separated to feel like nooks, but with a seamless flow between them, plenty of shade, color and texture from plants, and a workout area. The resulting yard far exceeds anything we could have imagined, both in functional use and beauty. Of all the designers we interviewed, Bonnie was the only one who was available for (and interested in) overseeing and project-managing the installation, and I can't underscore enough how valuable this was. She stayed engaged in and helped out with evaluating bids, material selections, oversaw and vetted each step of the installation, and helped us work through any issues that arose with the contractors. She is also extremely knowledgeable about plants, their water use, aesthetic, maintenance needs, planting arrangements, and providing food for beneficial species. She has closely involved us in the plant selections, incorporated a lot of our favorites, and at no time did she push us into a direction we weren't interested in, as we found was the case with other designers who had a pre-set idea for our space that they wanted us to buy into. Within a couple months of planting, the garden is already a haven for hummingbirds, butterflies, and many varieties of pollinating bees, and a thriving, colorful, and magical space for us to spend time in. Most importantly, Bonnie treats the project as passionately as if it were her own garden, dives into every detail, while always still ensuring we get everything we desire, helping us understand our own choices and decisions along the way. She made sure to address every need and question or concern we raised. If she sensed we were unsure of a decision, she'd talk us through all aspects of it, and always found a solution that worked. Even after the installation has completed, she has come by to check on the irrigation and the plants, and gives us a lot of tips on pruning and care. I would definitely recommend putting your project in Bonnie's hands, you won't be disappointed!

Several of my friends worked with Bonnie--she created stunning gardens for them. So, she was the natural choice for me. Bonnie created a front and back yard plan. She listened to my ideas, incorporated many of my existing items in fresh, new ways. She focused on drought tolerant plantings and grouped them creatively. She created a gorgeous sculpture and a water feature from my former waterfall stones. Bonnie is extremely knowledgeable about plants, hardscape, irrigation and worked with my contractor to implement her vision. I couldn't be happier with the result--I spend time in my new garden daily and it brings me joy. Bonnie is a gem!

We looked at many local designs for yards that were fun, inviting and to our style - and it turned out that Bonnie was behind many of the yards that we liked. Working with Bonnie was great - she was thorough in understanding our wants and wishes for the yard. She included usage, sustainability and maintenance concerns in our design and helped us make some smart choices along the way. Her team includes some great contractors for hardscape and softscape - I recommend working with the whole team together but you could opt for your own choices as well - Bonnie can project manage it either way. Like any home project we had unseen challenges, changes and on the fly adjustments to make - Bonnie and team were responsive, accommodating and had creative solutions to propose. We love the finished project and had a good experience getting through the journey.
