Chaulk Studio

We engaged Chaulk in 2014 to design and manage the build of our new home on land in an established location. Our brief was for a modern functional and right sized home blending in with the existing landscape whilst delivering high environmental outcomes. Our architect embraced our vision and worked with us, exceeding our expectations in the delivery of a light-filled energy efficient home. Much interest has been shown by our neighbours and people driving past. We have had many requests for our architect’s details as they were very impressed with the design and character of our home. It is now two years since our project was completed. We are very much enjoying our beautiful and comfortable home.

In 2014 my wife and I engaged Kim from Chaulk Studio to lead, design, and to project manage the build of our new home from concept through to handover and sign off from the builder. Over a period of two years, our vision and expectations were realized at the highest level with all the work Kim undertook, ensuring the successful delivery of our new home on schedule, budget and specification. Our brief to Kim was extensive, ambitious, and challenging. We wanted our new home to be modern, practical and functional for our lifestyle, with the highest level of energy efficiencies to capture the fullness of the land orientation, and to fit the immediate and wider location environment. We wanted Kim to ensure that the workmanship and the materials to be used were the most suitable for our home and they reflected our dream and her unique design criteria. We found Kim’s relationship management and architectural skills and creative foresight to be of the highest caliber. In particular, we appreciated Kim’s ability to listen attentively to our specific requirements and to translate them into a functional and beautiful design outcome through our continual conversations whilst she progressively refined her designs prior to start the build, so as to meet our vision and final expectations.

Chaulk Studio did an excellent job of updating this small apartment, bringing the outside in, and making it feel incredibly spacious and calm. Every detail was carefully considered, making the space a joy to live in.
