Columbine Design - CLOSED

Columbine Design tackled an unusual project: they designed an indoor garden with multiple retaining walls in an existing home.Since it was an indoor project they could not use big machinery and had to be inventive with logistics. Julie Hendricksen was responsive and flexible when we asked for changes in the plan. The crew was respectful, cleaned up and easy to communicatie with. We are very pleased with the end result.

I wish I could give this company a good review, but they were a big waste of time. At the beginning of May they came out to look at about five beds we wanted to have replanted. He said he could get us a quote in two to three weeks. Never heard from him again. I called and exchanged emails (even emailed a landscape plan) with a manager, who asked if we could wait until August to have the work done. I said that would be fine and she said she could get me a quote in a couple weeks. We never heard from her again. We really wanted to get a quote because we liked their ideas. It would have been better if they had told us early on that they couldn’t do the work. I imagine they had more lucrative projects than ours. We ended up using another company who was very responsive.

We are the owners of the photos labeled 'Natural Mountain Oasis'. The designers listened carefully to understand what we wanted to accomplish during the initial visit. Through a couple iterations, we jointly developed a plan that included both the aesthetic and practical ideas for our landscaping. The build team was both knowledgeable, skilled and worked diligently to implement the design. Our job site was kept clean and safe during the process. The foreman consulted with us regularly to ensure the work was what we expected and was to the quality we required. Two years have elapsed since completion. The flowers have bloomed, the signs of construction have disappeared and we have a wonderful outdoor space we use all the time. I would and do recommend Birdsall / Columbine Design when friends or neighbors ask who did the work. In fact, we had them return the following year to enhance our driveway to make the entrance to our home as beautiful as the outdoor living space.

Julie, We love the work that your crew did and the spruce tree is spectacular. We had no idea it would be so tall but it does the job of disguising the house next door. And we loved the care Jose and his workers did to clean up and make everything look finished- like planting the boulder in it’s new home, barking the disturbed areas, raking the grass to make it stand up again, and fixing the berm where the truck had to drive over. There’s no way for anyone to know that a major disturbance just occurred. Thank you all so much for a very professional and beautiful job. And a special thank you to Jose who figured out where we had a leak in our drip system that had doubled our water bill for August. He found it and fixed it and we are most grateful to him. Thank you, Julie for your planning and advice and please thank Scott for choosing just the right tree for us.

We are thrilled with the exceptional services which Columbine Design provided from start to finish of our comprehensive re-landscaping project. Julie first, and then Kim, created plans which remedied long-standing issues with the hardscape portion of the work. The crew carried out the design to perfection. Kim and Julie then produced a landscaping blueprint which shows our property off to its best advantage. The entire team work seamlessly to deal with matters as they arise.

Columbine Design did an incredible update of my small yard. Julie Hendricksen was wonderful to work with and listened to what I wanted to achieve in my space. The team installed a new patio and landscaped the rest of my yard. They did it on time and were respectful of my budget. I am more than thrilled with the outdoor area my family and I now enjoy.

Our experience with architect Julie Hendrickson and the entire Columbine Design installation team was flawless. Site manager Jose proved flexible when design details changed, Forrest Morrison served as art consultant and helped us locate the signature piece now standing near our front door, and when called upon to assist, Hector and Victor went above and beyond the scope of their assigned work to ensure the finished product was to their standards and ours. I would recommend Columbine to anyone with sites large or small, traditional or contemporary, in Colorado.

Columbine Design did a complete redesign of our front yard 3 years ago and we hired them again this past year to do the same in our backyard. We had some definite challenges with the slope on one side of our yard, but they were able to make it work well. Myles Tangalin was our designer and he is AWESOME. His ideas were great and we love sitting on our deck looking at all the beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers. My neighbors even texted me when it was complete to say how much they enjoy sitting on THEIR deck looking at our yard! It was an investment but one we are happy we did now that it's complete!

Greg Banks, landscape architect from Columbine Design, turned our side and backyard from an overgrown, outdated, unattractive area to a space we will enjoy being in for years to come. The area was difficult to work with because the side yard is very narrow and then drops sharply down to a larger backyard. Wall block, pavers, and flagstone replaced an old deck. Two pergolas were constructed to provide shade and visual interest in the narrow side yard. Greg worked closely with us every step of the way during the planning and construction. The installation crew worked hard, were friendly, and the foreman was able to answer questions along the way. We are very pleased with the results.

Greg Banks and the team worked to give us the yard we've dreamed of. Very professional in how work is done. Still waiting to see how the plants survived the winter. Have had some issues with sprinkler system operation and use. Project was completed at end of summer and their sprinkler guy left the company. Hoping startup of the system will go smoothly.

I worked with Greg from Columbine Designs on a backyard project at my place of employment. I work at a transitional home for families and the project was to remodel our backyard into something that was much more conducive to families and children. Greg was always respectful, courteous, and prompt in responding to my many MANY questions! He had great ideas for the limited space we had to work with and we are thrilled with the final project. I appreciated working with Greg and Columbine Designs because I always felt like they were up front and honest with me. We hired Columbine Design to design and install our front yard last fall. Greg was our designer and he did a great job of interpreting our vision on to paper and ultimately into reality. Our crew great, skilled and talented and were a pleasure to work with. They were there every day bell to bell once the project started until it was done. These guys are consummate professionals and our project turned out better than I ever expected. We get compliments weekly from neighbors and strangers that drive by.
