Naiztat and Ham redesigned a large portion of the first floor or my house in Westchester County in New York including enlarging the entrance foyer, building out the back of house (which impacted the basement) and enlarging a portion of the kitchen. They were extremely professional. They met every deadline, thought innovatively on how to deal with issues as they came up, managed the RFP process and dealt with contractor as needed. They were also incredibly accurate on the cost and the timing of the project. I will absolutely use them again in the future.

We have worked with Diane and Alex on multiple projects and they have been wonderful throughout. They have an outstanding and rare ability to combine creativity, attention to details, and deep understanding of the construction process -- delivering amazing results for their clients over and over. For our first project, they designed an amazing penthouse addition to our loft, in conjunction with a gut job renovation of the original apartment. Their knowledge and understanding of the building code allowed us to build 600 sqft of additional space where others had said that there was no possibility. The use of space, light, and selection of materials were fantastic, and the design merged form and function beautifully. After almost ten years from the initial renovation, the apartment still feels fresh and contemporary. For the second project, they gut renovated our beach house. They transformed an non descriptive, uninteresting house into a gorgeous home, with a fantastic flow and a layout that is simply genius. All within a relatively modest budget. We are now renovating another beach house, again they are completely transforming a boring property into an amazing and exciting one. In each of our projects, they have shown an uncanny ability to unearth the potential of each property and maximize its beauty. Diane and Alex are good listeners and truly care about their clients needs, which I have found it is quite rare. To top it all, they are wonderful people, which makes working with them incredibly pleasant.

Diane and Alex blend the best of technical expertise and client service. Their architectural ideas and plans are beautiful, but they are always willing to talk through their ideas, explain their rationale, and change their designs based on client feedback. We originally hired them to help us redesign a kitchen and a few other rooms in a post-war co-op. We were so happy with their work -- and so pleased with our experience in working with them -- that we hired them for a gut renovation of our apartment, which we bought in 2006 and began working on in 2007. Their aesthetic and ours match to quite a large extent. There were elements of their design that didn't work for us, and they were wonderful about rethinking their design to accommodate our needs. But overall when we told them what we were looking for the plans that they came back to us with were spot on. Often they would come back with 2 or 3 designs and would let us choose the one that we preferred - and they would discuss our choices with us, talking about the plusses and minuses of our choice. As well as the plans for our home it was a reasonably thorough architectural education. They are also excellent project managers, as they worked with our GC and some of his subs on a variety of things, from interpreting their plans to site conditions. Their plans were incredibly detailed -- many of the subs, as well as other tradespeople and our building's management company, remarked that they had rarely seen such thorough plans that took everything into account down to the last detail. After the project's completion we had an issue with the GC and with one of the subcontractors. Alex and Diane were available and incredibly helpful in working through the problems and representing our interests. As a result of the spectacular outcome on our project, my parents ended up hiring Alex and Diane to redesign their house, which also came out stunningly. Alex and Diane have our highest recommendation - you won't find a more competent or nicer team.

We hired Naiztat and Ham to combine our existing pre-war apartment with an adjacent apartment. The project was complex and required a demolition phase along with total redesign and sometimes relocation of existing rooms, with plumbing and electrical upgrades. Diane and Alex have incredible skill, attention to detail and industry knowledge. They deftly managed the project with the utmost of care and thought. No detail was too small to discuss and they thought through all aspects from actual design to acquiring building permits, and from dealing with the coop board to managing the contractor on a daily basis. They are truly wonderful people with whom we are still in touch, and we have always been impressed with their integrity, commitment and passion for their work. The project was completed in 2004 and not a day goes by that we don't appreciate our beautiful apartment. They captured our vision perfectly and also added their own stylish interpretations in ways that we hadn't even imagined. In fact, we just came across a wish list that Diane asked us for at the beginning of the project, and we were happily surprised to realize that she had helped us to achieve all of our wishes for the apartment, including one challenging item to make our classic pre-war apartment feel like a downtown loft without losing the original architectural charm. They walked us through each step of the project, even when there were frustrations or surprises. Sometimes taking the role of a therapist, Diane was able to anticipate our concerns and come up with real and viable solutions. Through weekly field meetings, they went through each item on the timeline and kept the project on schedule and focused. You cannot find a better team than Naiztat and Ham. We recommend them highly and wouldn't choose anyone else for any future projects.

Naiztat + Ham was very client focused. They provided guidance and became friends all the while maintaining professionalism. Ten years ago we were in the process of interviewing architects for a full scale apartment remodel. When Diane (Naiztat) and Alex (Ham) came to meet with us instantly we knew they were the firm for us. You were able to see that they loved what they do. Comfortable, confident and made us all feel like we had known each other for years…like old friends chatting in my living room. What was even more amazing was the quality of work they performed. They have this incredible ability of taking a space and see every usable inch. They were able to make the apartment function perfectly for us and made it appear larger than it actually was. The other comment I remember constantly hearing from those on the job site was how thorough their architectural plans were which only kept the job moving at a constant pace. Another very big point that I remember was cost savings they would find us and always be sure to extend to us. End result was a beautifully finished product that was always their main priority and it showed. Fast forward 10 years we are now in the process of designing two single private residences. So far it has been an incredibly fun process. I could not recommend them more or speak more highly of them.

My wife and I first used the services of Diane and Alex when we purchased our first apartment in manhattan. Diane and Alex's vision helped us to transform an ordinary post-war construction kitchen and living room/dining room into a comfortable and functional space. The newly transformed space opened up the whole apartment. Diane and Alex were easy to work with. They listened to our ideas and were able to process those ideas into a design that exceeded our expectations. Once we had our design Diane and Alex helped us put the project out for bid, select an excellent contractor and then supervised the contractor from start to finish. I am just finishing my project with Naiztat and Ham Architects. My apartment is located on lower 5th avenue in Manhattan in a white glove building. From the very beginning Naiztat and Ham created an amazing design for my space and now I am seeing the finished product. Their attention to detail is to be applauded and I am very pleased with the execution of their design. I highly recommend this firm. They are easy to work with, very creative and get the job done in a timely matter. First rate!

It may seem like ancient history, but our kitchen renovation has aged very well. Diane and Alex's design completely reworked the original kitchen in our 1966 raised ranch. Their plan eliminated the back staircase that ate up much of the kitchen, adding french doors and a small upper level to our backyard deck that replaced the access we lost when the staircase was removed. Shifting the wall that separated the kitchen from the dining room by just a foot gave us an even more spacious eat-in kitchen. Our "old school" contractor was originally skeptical of many of the details in their plans but was an unabashed fan by the time he finished the project. Every aspect of our project was handled exceptionally: design, solicitation and review of bids, securing the needed variance (the side yard setback had been increased by 10 feet right after we moved in and now ran through the middle of our dining room, necessitating a variance to build the upper level of the deck) and managing the actual construction. It's nice to see that they are continuing to produce innovative designs so many years later.
