I highly recommend Doyle Coffin architecture. I used the firm several years ago in connection with a substantial renovation of an antique home. They were exceptionally responsive and easy to work with. Their designs were creative and functional, and they did an extraordinary job blending the new elements of my home with the old. They diligently and enthusiastically worked through design challenges and came up with truly innovative solutions. As a testament to the high regard in which I hold them, I have recently engaged them for the renovation of a 1700's stone farm house.

We increased our living space by 30%, adding a great room and an additional bedroom. They met with us discussed our needs and provided several options. They were helpful in making modifications to the planned project and informed us of additional costs and delays. Doyle Coffin Architecture designed and assisted in all details of a complete basement finish which includes a bar area, full gym and a 1,700 bottle wine cellar. We used Peter Coffin and staff (specifically Valmar Franca) to design a renovation to our 1960s colonial. It involved adding a mudroom/laundry room, renovating and enlarging the kitchen, and rebuilding the garages with a space to add an upstairs phase 2 in the future. We also wanted to change the look of the exterior of the house. Peter and Valmar were amazing to work with. They immediately understood our goals and did not finish the process until the design we achieved felt perfect to all of us. The end result was a seamless look of a brand new house. Peter is an extremely respected architect in Ridgefield and surrounding areas and brings the same warm, modest, and passionate attitude to each project. In addition, we knew having an amazing architect would lead us to a great builder. Peter introduced us to an incredible builder, Neal Hicks, that he consistently works with in complete compliment. Together they ensured that our dream design became a perfect reality. We are excited to work with Peter for our next project!

Peter Coffin and his staff were fantastic. Our project entailed gutting our kitchen and 2 other rooms to create a large "great room". It included taking down several load-bearing walls, a 2 1/2 story stone fireplace and moving it, and adding a bunch of steel beams to hold it all up. They have great creative ideas, are extremely professional and are easy to work with. They led us through each step of the design process and our project in a timely manner. They were always willing to talk things through when we had questions or wanted to make changes to their design. We had already selected our builder and kitchen designer, and Peter and his staff were more than willing to work with them and help any way they could. Their goal was to make us happy and they succeeded.

In living in an antique house, deciding to add 1000 sq ft master suite required working out many details both in side and out of that it all blended together. Peter and his team stayed with us from idea to design to completion of a true showcase. This included all of the town regulation and board reviews. Fantastic result and a great working relationship.

Peter Coffin of Doyle Coffin Architecture LLC designed my very extensive house renovation completed over 12 years ago. He also completed plans for a subsequent small addition never done. I can highly recommend Peter as I have already done to several friends. He is very easy to work with, doesn't dominate with an excessive ego, and has produced an esthetically magnificent result. He had also designed wonderful renovations for two friends who as I, are pleased with the product. My only regret was that I didn't have Peter engaged to closely supervise the construction which would have produced an even better result and with lower unnecessary expenses.

We are currently in the middle of our second major project under the guidance of Peter and the DCA firm. Our first major addition, completed several years ago, transformed our house from a small fragmented antique "farmhouse" into a much more livable, updated house while in keeping with the period details of the home. We found the firm to creative in the initial design, attentive to detail and to our needs, and very responsive to questions and concerns that arose as the project progressed. Peter was really a pleasure to work with. He ensured that the project progressed from an idea on paper all the way through to completion, as seamlessly as possible. We are currently in the midst of a second large project. Needless to say, there was no question regarding our choice of architectural firms.

DCA was responsive, solutions-oriented and cost-effective. They produced a creative, adaptive design in a challenging, highly visible, historic context. The resulting project was delivered on-time and within budget, and is very highly regarded.
