James Dawson Design is a boutique pool and landscape design studio, specialising in medium-to-large size projects in Melbourne. We aim to create spaces that are beautiful, functional, and perfectly in tune with our clients' needs. Our approach to design is simple and pragmatic; we endeavour to deliver spaces that transcend the test of time. From large entertaining areas to bespoke intimate spaces, our design philosophy translates perfectly to projects of any size, with each offering creative, innovative, and responsible design solutions. In order to achieve this end result, we work closely with our clients to understand their wants, needs, and overall lifestyle. We listen attentively and read between the lines, allowing us to deliver a design that is harmonious with their way of living. It's this degree of collaboration that our clients tell us they love, as we're able to manage the project with the architect and construction team to provide peace of mind and maintain the same quality of service from start to finish. From start to finish it was an enjoyable process working with James. James was able to come out on site, see the current issues we had and develop a design that fixed our current issues but also gave us a space to relax and enjoy our property. His knowledge of plants and design is second to none. Would easily recommend to anyone looking to design their dream garden space.

Thank you to James of James Dawson Designs for the restful and beautiful environment he planned for my home. I was impressed with his creativity as he thought of ways to solve the many problems of size and materials he encountered on his arrival to my home. His knowledge of plants and hard surfaces was impressive. He recommended excellent tradesmen and was a constant visitor to make sure all was proceeding to plan. My friends all want to meet at my home as it has such a Zen like feeling. It is with pleasure and no hesitation that I recommend James Dawson Designs and James.

I engaged James in 2019 to develop a concept garden plan for my large, overgrown front and back gardens, Both spaces were basically an eyesore and in desperate need of updating. He was able to take my many ideas and create a plan that was easily implemented. I now have a garden space that I can relax in and enjoy. James is an excellent designer and easy to work with.

Trust this man! We weren't entirely sure what we were looking for in our small backyard, so I let James quiz me. Once quizzed, James could work out what our needs were and although James didn't physically do the job, with his knowledge he provided a plan and the plant selection. Before we contacted James, we had another garden design consultant visit us and only after we met James did we realise how average the previous consultant was. James comes across as highly professional, humorous and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend James Dawson Design.

We found James effortless to work with, he understood our need and challenged our thinking and came with a wonderful design for our entertaining space and backyard. When our specifications changes be pivoted easily and produced a design beyond what we thought our space was capable of.

James listened to the schools requirements and came up with a plan that suited our needs. He was able to design something that was in budget. He remained very interested in the project all through the construction phase.
