Since 1987, Exterior Worlds has specialized in high-end landscape design, development, implementation and landscape maintenance. By working hard to improve our clients’ quality of life, we have become recognized as one of Houston's finest and most creative landscape firms. Our firm focuses on a variety of design elements and construction techniques, all of which are geared to enhance the beauty of the property while inspiring thought, creativity and enjoyment. In the initial consultation, the Exterior Worlds’ staff works diligently to help clients define the scope of work, phasing, overall project coordination and budget. The next phase may include conceptual design, design development and final cost proposals. In this phase and during the installation, Exterior Worlds serves as general contractor and may subcontract related installation work such as drainage systems, outdoor water fountains and luxury swimming pools, outdoor kitchens or landscape lighting. Finally, Exterior World’s landscape services provide ongoing maintenance and yard care. We are very pleased with the outcome of the project to landscape our yard and integrate it into a recently acquired adjacent lot. Jeff Halper and Monica Eatherton brought creative ideas and LOTS of patience to the design phase where we tried out multiple concepts before landing on one that balanced budget considerations with a desire to do something really good. Throughout the process, they were accessible, responsive and committed to completing the project to our satisfaction. Scope included light structural work on the house, a deck, planting, lighting, irrigation and some hardscaping. We enjoy using the space almost every day, and receive regular compliments from neighbors and passers by. Big thanks to the team for their hard work!

Exterior Worlds completed the landscape design and implementation of our yard renovation, including new beds, trees, and grass with drainage, irrigation, and lighting, as well as new fences, custom entry gate, and hardscape walkways. In addition, they completed an extension of our back patio to create an outdoor living space with built-in storage and A/V.
Jeff led us through the conceptual design and development phases, adjusting plans to ensure they met our needs and lifestyle. Jeff was responsive and collaborative, always providing honest feedback throughout the process.
Monica was our project manager. She was wonderful to work with, and she undoubtedly made the project come to life successfully. Monica was extremely detail oriented and ensured all subcontract installation work was high-quality. Monica kept a close-eye on the project’s progression, and during the intense phases of work would communicate with us regularly to ensure we were kept up-to-date.
Both Monica and Jeff were fantastic throughout, and we trusted they would deliver the project we envisioned.

We were referred to Jeff and his team to design and execute our backyard project which included elements of hardscape (patio), construction (arbor), drainage, irrigation, fencing, lighting/ electrical and landscaping. Jeff managed the process seamlessly and we are thrilled with the result. His entire team was responsive, professional, and very easy to work with. Working with Exterior Worlds was a very satisfying experience. We had several projects within the project including having a swimming pool installed and completely redoing our landscaping which included an irrigation system. Jeff and Monica were both creative and professional in their approach to the project and everything was explained in full before we began. Monica Eatherton was heading the project and was always available to resolve any issues that arose quickly and efficiently.

We hired Exterior Worlds this year (2022) to completely overhaul our landscaping, both front and back yards. We had a great experience with Exterior Worlds, and very much enjoyed the process of designing and planning our landscape. From the beginning, there was great dialogue about what we wanted, what was feasible when considering design/planning, and our long term vision. Exterior Worlds put together some master design concepts, which allowed us to provide input to our landscape, with an initial remit to provide privacy, beautify our space and stay native with the plantings where possible. They had regular communication with the city to ensure there would be no red tape with a pool/structure down the road. From planning, to site preparation, planting and irrigation, we our delighted with the outcome of our yard, and can wait to tackle the remaining phase with them.

We just wrapped up a complete backyard remodel, pool included, with Jeff at Exterior Worlds and we couldn't be happier with the end result. We wanted to work with someone who could help come up with a vision for our backyard space and then execute a high quality turnkey project, and that's exactly what Jeff did. The entire process was pretty seamless, all the way from concept design to delivery. Where our input was needed or we had specific questions, Jeff was always transparent, responsive, and quick to solve any issue that came up. Words don't do justice to the before and after of our backyard. High quality service and execution has produced a high quality product. If we ever need to redesign another outdoor space, we won't hesitate to work with Jeff and his team again.

Working with Exterior Worlds was a pleasure from start to finish. Everyone we encountered from EW was dedicated, knowledgeable and showed great care with their work. Jeff stays involved with the work all the way through and made sure we had the beautiful yard and landscaping we aspired to have - despite limited supply at the nurseries after the big freeze. His installation crew worked harder than I'd seen any group do - day after day working to install all aspects of our landscaping (drainage, irrigation, planting and lighting). Exterior Worlds is top-notch and understands what true customer service looks like.

Jeff has excellent design skills / vision, which were very important to us as we had little to offer in terms of project design. He is very professional and we never had any doubts about the project. I first contacted Jeff in 2013, and he provided a detailed proposal for a new pool and landscaping project I contemplated. After multiple design iterations, I put the project on the back shelf and pursued a home remodeling and expansion project. The remodel construction took much longer than anticipated, and over the next several years I had many further conversations and meetings with Jeff, more design work, proposals and requests for his professional advice. Many would have become frustrated with my on again off again project, seemingly going nowhere, and feel I was just wasting their time. To the contrary, Jeff was always the consummate professional, quick to respond and eager to help in any way he could. We finally kicked off the landscaping project in late 2020, and went through several more design iterations to balance my aesthetic interests and budgetary objectives. Regardless of how many changes I requested, he always responded promptly with a a solution and a smile. Finally in December 2020 the project began! As it progressed, Jeff and his crew were always very accommodating and willing to do whatever was necessary to ensure my satisfaction. The project was completed sooner than promised, the quality of work outstanding, and they were true professionals throughout. My experience with Exterior Worlds has been superb in every respect!

From the very beginning of our experience with Exterior Worlds we were pleasantly surprised on how they exceeded all expectations. The detailed output of the original landscape plans made the decision easy to stay with them for the complete install.
The crew showed up on time and daily left our premises in a very tidy manner. Given the choice to do it all again we would absolutely not change a thing. Job really well done.

In 2008, we hired Exterior Worlds to completely redesign our backyard including a free- standing outdoor kitchen, pool and landscaping. Twelve years later I have to say it was the best money we've ever spent. We enjoy it every day and it looks as beautiful as the day it was built. Through floods, freezes and droughts, every bit of the original landscaping is still in place and still looks fantastic. After such a positive experience, this year we had EW redesign our front yard and we couldn't be happier. From the imagination of the design to the meticulous attention to detail, there is not a more highly skilled and professional company in Houston. Jeff is a joy to work with! He listened to my ideas and patiently worked until the plan met my dream, even including me on a trip to the nursery to review plant selections. He visited my yard often - before, during and after the installation to be aware of all conditions and to assure that the plants were adapting well. His crew was well managed, timely, courteous and neat. His communication throughout was excellent so I was always aware of the status of the project and the crew’s activity. Jeff’s beautiful landscape design also coordinated all other elements I needed - pool, fence, stone sidewalk and gravel driveway. I could not be happier!

I hired Exterior Worlds to re-design my entire landscaping following home renovations. Jeff was extremely professional and helpful throughout the process. I was very happy with the aesthetics of the design plan. Jeff discussed plant choices with me, and I feel comfortable that we have chosen plants that will do well in the given conditions. With his guidance, I was able to apply to budget to portions of the project that yielded the most impact and value. The crew doing the work was amazing. They worked quickly and efficiently and left the property looking so neat every day during the process. The project was completed on schedule and within budget. Jeff and Exterior World designed and installed our landscape plan. When an oak tree died because of the extreme summer heat they replaced it. They returned and replaced any plants that struggled because of the heat. The yard looks amazing and we receive many compliments. We have hired them for maintenance and are also very happy we did. Jeff was price sensitive in communicating with us cost of size of plants installed.

Jeff Halper of Exterior Worlds has once again put his magical touch on our landscape and hardscape needs. Having worked with Jeff in the past, I knew he was the only logical choice to help us with some vital landscape and hardscape updates to our recently constructed modern home in Memorial. And, it was essential that the modern architectural theme of the house be maintained in executing the desired updates which included a water feature at the front entry and several ancillary landscape features around the house. With this in mind, Jeff spent the necessary time going over several landscape ideas that supported scale and framing of the house and also ensured blending with the modern architecture. Jeff was also delighted to involve us in collaborating on the custom stainless-steel water feature and a variety of supporting hardscape details. The design process also included input from an exterior illumination specialist to aid in bringing the entire project to life in the evenings. In the end, Jeff and his team of skilled landscape professionals executed the project just as it was dreamed on paper. His crews-- wonderfully managed by Serda-- were always professional and courteous; and they maintained the project site in a skilled and proficient manner daily. I'm truly delighted with the completed project and would highly recommend Jeff for all of your landscape needs.
As an additional testament to the quality of work by Exterior Worlds, Jeff and I are already collaborating on an additional water feature for the backyard that will include a seating area and fireplace element.

I hired Jeff to redo my small front and backyard with trees, plants, lights, irrigation and artificial turf. Jeff provided a very clear estimate for the work. He kept me informed throughout the project. I paid 1/2 up front and he never asked for anything more until the job was complete. There were no surprises. My yard looks great. I was happy working with Exterior World and would recommend them for your outdoor space.

What a difference Jeff Halper and Exterior Worlds just made at our house. Long wish list, but a key goal was to enhance backyard privacy. During a busy season, Jeff met with us quickly, listened carefully, and got a detailed proposal to us within days. That front end work was great, but the actual landscaping work that followed was even better. The stock selected and delivered -- 10 new trees plus shrubs, plants and sod -- was gorgeous. We've walked nurseries for years, so we could appreciate that Jeff had sourced exceptional product. Best of all, Jeff's crew was tightly managed, well trained and highly professional throughout. Big picture focused, but alert to the details that make such a difference: Repeatedly measuring and adjusting individual tree placement, literally down to the inch. Sculpting old shrubs precisely, so they'd exactly match new arrivals. Patiently fixing known problems in prior work done by others -- work that hadn't been done with this much passion and precision. Cleaning up everything each night before leaving. Treating our neighbors with care and respect. We never had to interact once with anyone from EW about anything. Jeff and his crew (thanks Serda) were more on top of the details than we were. It was the best experience we've ever had with a Houston landscaping company. Many thanks and well done.

This is a unique review in that we did not move forward with our backyard project however I cannot say how impressed I was with Jeff. He spoke to me for a good 30 min when I randomly called to get some information. He explained to me what all the job would entail, suggested that it might be cheaper for me to work with a general contractor for my patio only project. He even took the time to give me a high level cost analysis despite knowing that due to our tight budget we may not move forward with the project. I really appreciated his honest and candid feedback. Thanks for the great feedback Jeff.

I couldn't be happier with the job that Jeff and his crew did. The plant material was perfect- large healthy specimens with any blooming plants in full and glorious bud stage. His crew was polite, adept and cleaned up immaculately after each day's work.- I was very worried about that since I live in a small gated community. Jeff kept a close eye on all as it progressed. I am sitting in my beautiful garden as I type this. I highly recommend Exterior Worlds.

When we embarked on the journey to build our dream home, we turned to Houzz for inspiration and resources. We were fortunate to find the perfect architects: RD | Architecture, to design our home, and Exterior Worlds to design and install the landscaping. We simply couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.
Ours is a single-story house like most homes in our neighborhood, but with a contemporary flair. Understanding that the structure is only one part of the overall design equation, we knew that we wanted it situated in landscaping that would reflect its modernity while simultaneously projecting a simple, understated aesthetic.
We were attracted to the images of Jeff Halper’s designs (both traditional and contemporary) that we saw on Houzz, and were impressed with how well he listened to our goals at our very first meeting. He is a superb collaborator, as we learned in our months of meetings with us, our builder and our architects, both in terms of the design and installation.
He sketched up a very creative initial scheme which we loved but that evolved even further in its simplicity and essence as the project unfolded. Now that the house is complete, we are thrilled with how seamlessly the house and landscape merge on our site and the harmony that it radiates. My North Montrose home has a layout similar to most new construction in the area – small backyard, small stretch of graveled area along the side, with area for landscaping on the sides of the driveway. I told Jeff at Exterior Worlds I wanted to see green when I looked out the windows, low maintenance landscaping and the ability to utilize as much of the yard as possible .
Jeff went above and beyond meeting my requirements and created an amazing space that I’ve enjoyed more than expected. By adding artificial turn in the back and side areas, trees in front and back for increased privacy and color and the addition of lighting to enhance the view at night, I couldn't be more pleased with my outdoor space. His landscaping team paid attention to all of the details as well as recommended modifications that they felt would improve the final product. I would highly recommend to Exterior Worlds to anyone looking to upgrade their landscaping.

We wanted to transform an un-used outdoor space that our kids had outgrown into an area we could enjoy as a family and entertain guests.
We had a great experience working with Jeff, as he brought professionalism, superb design knowledge, and innovative ideas. At the same time he was more than willing to listen and incorporate our ideas as well. It was a great experience working together with Jeff to create the space we wanted.
Jeff introduced us to a whole world of outdoor florae that we never knew existed. Although it was more than I ever wanted to know, we were glad he had the knowledge to find and suggest a wide variety of items that would work in our space. He understood our desire for a low maintenance yard and delivered.
Jeff was great to work with and kept in constant communication so we always knew the status of the project. He has a courteous, hard working team that was very professional as well.
Jeff was always open to exploring different ideas than what we had initially planned on and was always willing to work with our budget.
Jeff always said he wanted us to be happy with the results of the project, but he truly showed this desire through his actions throughout the life of the project and still continues to work with us today. We really appreciated this.

We hired Jeff Halper and his team at Exterior Worlds to do a landscape project in Houston TX. Jeff is knowledgeable about the plants that will survive our area, which was crucial to us as we had lost many plants from a prior install. Jeff Halper and his team at Exterior Worlds are a first class organization. We started with a landscape design project. We wanted a landscape plan that complemented the contemporary Italian design of our house. Discussions during the design were right on point. After several iterations they had brought many clever ideas to our project and were always very easy to work with. We were delighted with the final design’s approach to transforming the front and back yards. The installation went very smoothly. It was completed with amazing precision to the design. Our expectations for service were consistently exceeded as the drainage, sprinkler system, and plants were installed. Jeff’s team was considerate of any activities we had scheduled and they always left the work area neat and cleaned up. I highly recommend Exterior Worlds.

After receiving proposals from a couple of landscape firms who were more concerned with ringing the cash register, we were very lucky to stumble on Exterior Worlds through an old friend. Without a strong opinion on the look we were going for, Jeff was able to find a design that honored our traditional home as well as complementing our modern taste.
The crew was very professional and punctual. Mistakes, that are an inevitability in projects like these, were reported to us and immediately corrected. They were very respectful of our home and always had a smile for our curious sons...and dogs. Jeff and Cerda, the project manager, provided an amazing level of quality. Our West U house was built in 1991. Over the years, the brick lined driveway and concrete around our pool pitted, cracked and sank. After years of band-aid solutions (including two "freshen ups" of the landscaping by others), we decided to find high-end, turn-key professionals who could handle this job from start to finish. After meeting with Jeff and Michael and looking through their portfolio, we felt good about their level of competence (very high) and their aesthetic, so we decided to add landscaping, a balcony repair and a total pool renovation to the job. It was worth every penny to have them design and manage the whole process (West U permitting, replacing the driveway and pool surround on our 10,000 SF lot, that's a LOT of concrete, renovating the pool, balcony repair, new landscaping, irrigation etc.). Our home now looks like it was built last year and we feel great knowing that we found the right people for the job. Our house is unrecognizable. This is the best money we've ever spent on our home, and that is the highest endorsement I can give!

Last year my employer needed a huge landscaping renovation done at his very prominent Houston home. Time was very limited. After being told "i cant help you" by several other well known firms in town, we reached out to Jeff Halper at Exterior Worlds. What Jeff and the guys at Exterior Worlds did for us was spectacular. Everything from design and plant selection down to the installation went flawlessly. The installers impressed me with their extensive knowledge of the plants and proper care for our investment. We have since used Exterior Worlds for EVERY landscaping project at the residence (and there have been many). I cannot say enough about Exterior Worlds! The word that comes to mind that I associate with them is Integrity. My husband and I had hired them to completely revamp tired old existing landscaping while having our house remodeled inside and out. They designed a beautiful layout and plantings that far surpassed our expectations! We had people literally stopping and coming to the front door asking who did the landscaping, constantly. Asking about everything from who did the driveway, what color was used, what kind of grass did we have, where did we get the old brick for the walkway, where did the giant standard crepe myrtles come from………….
Jeff and his crew were supremely professional, knowledgeable, sensitive to budgeting and scheduling, they curated the healthiest and most fitting size plants appropriate for the project, everyone one of his crew were enjoyable to work with and around. They care, they all actually care and have a love for what they do and it shows in their work. I wish I could, in some way, tamp down this glowing review, but there just isn't anything but pure integrity and good stuff with this company.

Upon meeting the owner of Exterior Worlds Landscaping & Design I was very impressed with his knowledge, presentation and readiness to get what I wanted accomplished. He spent the time with me showing me samples of what plants and designs there would best fit the area of focus. Exterior Worlds has a great crew that handled every need my 3 acre lawn paradise had. The supervisor is always onsite making sure everything is going as i expected. They also surveyed my sprinkler system which needed work and had crews onsite the very next day.
Another favorite of mine is that with any need or request I had, I was able to call the owner direct and speak with him on any concern/request I had at any time.

Exterior Worlds was hired to prepare design and complete landscape renovation throughout my property. This was done in coordination with other major renovation both inside and outside the home including pool, spa, patio and cabana area. Exterior Worlds was easy to deal with throughout the project which took more than six months. This included landscape architectural design, planning, tree removal, trimming, bed preparations, installation of numerous large majestic palms, holly, birch, plum, red buds, orchid, magnolias, oaks and other trees in addition to many hundreds of shrubs, plants, flowers, etc... They also did iron works including complete new fence and gate installation. A complete 45+ zoned irrigation system was installed, among other projects. This project was very important to us as homeowners given the scope and size. While ultimately the cost was substantial (hundreds of thousands of dollars), Exterior Worlds worked with us at every stage in a cost-conscious approach. This was a large project. I would recommend them regardless of how small or large the project. Their workers and staff were courteous, diligent and prompt. The owner, Jeff Halper, was knowledgeable, extremely responsive and helpful -- and a pleasure to work with.

I live in Phoenix but came across an amazing pool on Houzz. I contacted the company who designed and built it--Exterior Worlds in Houston. I was surprised to get a call back within the hour. Jeff was very helpful in describing the project and helping me possibly apply it to my backyard in Phoenix. Even knowing he wasn't going to "make a buck", he spent as much time on the phone with me as I needed and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He even sent me the design plan on a PDF so I could reference it for my own yard! Ironically, a local pool builder refused to share his plans for my pool with me claiming it was proprietary--and the funny thing was, he had drawn a rectangle. I wish Jeff and his team did work in Phoenix!

I enjoyed working with Jeff and Exterior Worlds. We hired Jeff to add trees to our backyard and he helped with the selection, placement and design of the backyard landscape. He also installed some plants in the front of the house.

The crew that shows up at my house every Wednesday without fail is well dressed, polite, careful, and attentive to details. If I call with a concern or a request, it is handled very quickly. I consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to work with this company. My landscaping looks amazing year round and it is such a joy and adds so much to the enjoyment of my home. Worth every penny. They have done many updates, repairs, and additions to the original landscaping since the original installation and everything always looks fabulous. I will be hiring them to help with a new country house in the next 12 months.

Exterior Worlds with their creativeness, sense of style and beauty have made my yard an oasis. They are very professional and have extreme knowledge regarding landscaping, plants and issues specifically to Houston and its climate and what will and will not survive. When ever there is anything to discuss, they are only a phone call away and gladly will drop by for a one-on-one discussion if requested. They do an excellent job!

We hired Exterior Worlds to redesign our front yard. We were extremely pleased with the end result and continue to receive compliments on our beautiful new yard! Jeff and his talented team were wonderful to work with and Jeff was involved in every detail of the project. They stayed on schedule and helped us stay on budget as well. Having had a great relationship with Exterior Worlds thru several small landscaping jobs, we hired EW to completely remodel our backyard in 2007. The project included a pool demolition, pool construction, outdoor kitchen construction and full landscaping. Jeff Halper handled the entire project from design to completion - we could not be happier with the results. I cannot say enough about EW's creativity, professionalism and attention to detail - they simply do excellent work. If you live in the Houston area, these are the people you need to be talking to.

Exterior Worlds scraped the landscape on my property to dirt then started from scratch. They designed and created what can only be described as a one of a kind sanctuary that exceeds my vision of what I wanted in my outdoor living space. Every aspect of the landscaping is inspired: artful arbor running the length of the house in back, the abstract natural stone fountain, the hardscape and plantings, the iron sculpture and the accent lighting all combine to make a beautiful exterior to my home. In addition, it was a pleasure to work with all the individuals connected with the project. Thank you.

Exterior Worlds truly lived up to its name. They upgraded my yard to a veritable outdoor home. The patios, gardens, and outdoor kitchen they built for me work like outdoor rooms that are every bit as comfortable as those inside our home. Our swimming pool looks not only brand new, but like a true reflection of our house. Our yard looks more fully defined, enlarged, and truly connected to our house for the first time ever.
