Kami Gray Interior Design

Kami and her partner/daughter Stephanie are amazing!! We never met in person, but they managed to furnish an entire home for us during covid. We bought the home for my mom and for a place to stay when we visit Portland. Kami and Stephanie listened to our vision, provided thoughtful and creative options for furnishings, and, based on the photos, the space is beautiful! We still haven't been able to see it in-person, but we hope to visit this summer. Most importantly, my mom loves the home and the cozy, comfortable vibe Kami & Stephanie created. Hands down my favorite designer ever (and I've worked with many)! Kami delivered beyond my expectations. She seemed to truly ENJOY figuring out my vision and preferences, and edited and updated tirelessly until we had a result that truly delighted me. Kami's experience working with and for staging and furniture retailers was invaluable, giving her great skill at balancing color, shape, texture, and finishing details that make the spaces inviting and warm but not overly "done." Our end product exceeded my expectations-- a delicious blend of color and texture with open space and tranquility. Thank you Kami!

I worked with Kami to refashion the kitchen and powder room of my 19th century brick Queen Anne. I had spoken with a few designers before I found her who either wouldn't even touch my project (even though I had a $90,000 budget for a relatively small space!) because it was "too small," or who I couldn't trust to help me stay on that strict budget. But Kami was totally respectful of the budget and offered FANTASTIC choices to achieve a high-end look. She was invaluable in sharing where she thought the money was best spent, like on quality faucets and countertops, but save on stylish but less expensive drawer pulls, for instance. And she dug around for less-known artists and designers to add that "designer touch" in things like shelf brackets and some seriously excellent wall paper for the powder room. Can you give more than 5 stars? Kami is amazing! Her designs are outstanding. She's professional, communicative, resourceful, responsive, thorough, super creative; and has a great sense of humor! She not only designed our kitchen, but our basement as well. We know she's in high demand, yet Kami always found the time to answer our gazillion questions quickly. Hands down, she's THE best! Kami is an energetic and experienced designer that seemed to immediately understand our style upon walking into our home. Her experience and suggestions allowed me the confidence to make choices that I knew I would love. She was responsive to texts and emails as questions would arise about color, contractors and time frames. Kami also has contacts with craftsman in: tiling, painting, masonry and other fields that came in handy when I struggled securing contractors for our work. This was honestly the only frustrating part about our project. I did not have a general contractor. The contacts would often only respond to Kami- yet Kami was understandably too busy to organize the work with the contractors and serve as the go-between. It just wasn't her job. She set clear boundaries regarding this fact. As long as you go in knowing this, or with a general contractor that will take care of it all for you! you will no doubt appreciate Kami's decisive, direct and talented professionalism.

We bought a 1970s home that needed a complete remodel. We really struggled with finding a vision for our kitchen and didn't want to make mistakes while being distracted working on the rest of the house. I found Kami on Houzz and felt immediately at ease with her upon our first meeting. We had a few things on our wish list and a tight budget and we were eager to let her take control so that we could focus on the rest of the house. We were given a design plan, a timeline and input. We appreciated that she was budget conscious and would go the extra mile to find the right pricing on items that would allow us to get that designer look without breaking the bank. Kami is a great communicator and would email pictures of options on many items to get our feedback on her choices. We loved that. We were also lucky to have been able to work with Ash St. Builders (Kami's husband) during a very busy time in the Portland market. We are so happy with our finished product and our friends and neighbors are astonished at the transformation of our home. We can't thank Kami and Bryant enough.

My husband and I worked with Kami on our kitchen remodel this past year. Kami is professional, experienced and will think of every detail you won't! We really enjoyed working on the project, and are thrilled with our perfect-for-entertaining kitchen!

My entire experience working with Kami was exceptional. She gave me expert advice, helped me save a lot of money by using her designer license and most importantly we had fun while constructing a gorgeous remodel. I started a minor project in my house and got stuck; paint colors weren't right, carpet wasn't matching the paint colors, finding the right blinds seemed impossible. I personally enjoy design and didn't want to give control to anyone else bc I wanted to have my input. Exasperated with the whole process...i called Kami. Kami is very client centric. She asks a lot of questions to gain an understanding of what's most important to you vs designing what she would like. She listened to all of my wants and needs including budget, timeframe, where I wanted help and where I didn't. After our first consultation and walk through of the house she sent me drawings and ideas and I did the same. We built out a file system of which we could share. She met me to pick out tile, carpet etc and had great recommendations for vendors and places to buy my furnishings. Kami's response time was excellent I never felt like I was waiting on a response and she would reply with honest input on some items I had selected for her to review. The end result is a remodel that I'm very proud of. I was able to have my style and input but at the same time receive Kami's expertise for an end product that is much better than I could've done myself!!

Love Kami's eye for design! I contacted Kami to help with several small updates around the house (choosing a backsplash we never completed, changing hardware, light fixtures, etc) and we couldn't have been happier with the results. The choices ended up being more cost effective than we expected and the the final look is gorgeous. We'll continue to use Kami as we make updates to the house, and would recommend her in a heartbeat.

WOW - that's all I can say. After considering multiple other proposals from high-end interior designers in Portland, Kami Gray and her team outshines them all. She put together a plan for our kitchen remodel that was on budget, met our VERY tight timeline (2 weeks!?) and created the perfect look that we were hoping for. We couldn't be happier. Kami has an attention to detail and an eye for design that really stand out and make her a perfect partner for any remodel or redesign project. She is very responsive to questions and concerns - my husband is very detail oriented, and was thrilled with how Kami addressed his every concern, down to a slightly loose drawer pull ;) She also provided a budget update whenever we needed it, so we knew exactly where we were with the project cost. My favorite pastime is watching HGTV, perusing home decorating magazines and scouring online websites dreaming of a day that I can tackle a large home project. Well that day came and it was much harder than I originally thought. We purchased a 25 year-old home and needed to outfit a living room and dining room combo. I visited every furniture store in the area and just couldn’t see the vision for the room. I wanted to make sure that our room was unique but timeless at the same time. In walks Kami Gray…I saw her website and really liked her portfolio. Sent her and email and she responded to my inquiry quickly. We set up a time to meet and look at my space and the rest is history. Her pricing is very reasonable and probably saved me money in the long run by not purchasing the wrong items. We met a couple time in person to shop but we mostly communicated by email and phone. Kami is very responsive and so easy to talk to. She created a room that exceeded my expectations. She just has a knack for putting things together. Every time I walk in the room I feel like I’m in one of those home magazine. Pinch me, I think I’ve gone to home decor heaven. Thanks Kami!!

WE have been working with Kami for a major remodel that we just completed (new kitchen, den, front portico) over the past 5 months. Kami was invaluable in helping us sort thru all of the details on finishes/paint/tile etc.... She is extremely available, respectful and timely...not to mention easy going style and funny. She is also helping us now with the interior design part - furniture etc... I can't imagine doing this/making all of these decisions by myself.
