Halldale Builders is a small, family owned and operated construction company located in Montville, Maine since 1977. We build and remodel homes, barns, and other structures ranging from small projects to much larger scale homes and buildings. We offer our clients custom design and drafting services. We also work with the local Amish community to provide most of our custom interior cabinetry and built-ins. Our professionally trained, long term employees attend regular seminars based on current construction technology and best building practices. Our employees are personally trained by the owner, Glenn, to provide craftsmanship that is second to none. Our 5 person crew is reliable and trustworthy, and customers feel at ease when we work alone in their homes. Additionally, the owner is onsite and working daily, ensuring the quality and craftsmanship we deliver. We are proud that our niche company offers the highest quality product for a reasonable cost. Our customers often request we use them for future reference. Customers tell us how stress free they felt while working with us. Glenn and his crew built our new home from start to finish and we feel lucky to have found them. The quality of their work is high and Glenn is always upfront and honest to deal with. He has a great deal of experience and can help with decisions you may be unsure of. He is also willing to do want the customer wants if you chose to do something different. Glenn’s extensive knowledge and connections in the industry help immensely in a challenging construction environment. From plan to finished product our house came out the way we envisioned it. Glenn and his crew turned a Frankenstein's monster of a house into a thing of beauty! The house was originally built by someone who thought he knew how to build a house but actually didn't. As a result, the floors were no longer level, the roof leaked, the electrical and plumbing was a mess and nearly everything about the construction of the house was wrong. As a result of the shoddy original construction, Glenn and Halldale Builders had to completely rebuild the house from the inside out. The project threw numerous challenges and obstacles at the building crew, but Glenn and his team consistently came up with solutions that made the house not just more stable and up to code, but more beautiful to spend time in. The quality of the work is exceptional. The care and attention to the finished product comes through in all of the work. The house went from a dark, closed up, musty space with spongy floors to a bright, open, inviting home with rock solid floors, walls electrical, plumbing, windows, etc. It's truly a remarkable transformation. I have had several people stop by and see the transformation of the house and everyone remarks about the beauty and quality of the craftmanship. I highly recommend Glenn and Halldale Builders as exceptional craftsmen.

Halldale Builders constructed a new home for us from 2020-2021. Glenn’s confidence and years of local home building experience made us feel comfortable in selecting him as our builder. In addition, Glenn and his team rose to the challenge of building a home that had some unique design features and non-traditional materials and/or applications. We were surprised at how many tasks Glenn’s team handled on their own, including forming the foundation, pouring the concrete slab, framing, and installation of siding, metal roof, gutters, windows, doors, screened-in porch, balcony rubber membrane, decking, cabinets, flooring, and trim. Glenn has go-to subs that handle the trades they don’t perform. Glenn’s crew was extremely helpful in brainstorming and researching “modern” building strategies and finding ways to make things work. In many cases along the way hand-drawn sketches or photos of what we wanted were provided and the crew would come up with proper execution. Not only are they skilled carpenters, but they are a friendly bunch and a joy to work with. As with any build there were challenges along the way (including supply chain delays and inventory issues during the pandemic), but in the end Halldale Builders did an excellent job of producing our vision and we love our new home!

You will not find higher quality or workmanship than Halldale Builders. We were lucky enough to have them complete our addition this past summer and we were thrilled with the whole process. It can be hard to find a contractor that values transparency and integrity in all aspects of a build, but that’s exactly the mentality of the entire team at Halldale Builders. We were kept apprised when prices shifted due to supply issues, and consulted when unforeseeable challenges arose. We felt like we were given solid advice when decision times came, but our choices and preferences were always respected if they didn’t quite line up with standard procedures. It’s our house after all! I can’t recommend this company highly enough. Not only did we end up with a beautiful new living space, we had the privilege of getting to know a really great group of people.

In late 2019, my wife and I contracted Glenn and the Halldale crew to build our dream home in Appleton. Little did we know the extent of the curve balls we would be thrown to get this house completed in a pandemic. Glenn and team went over and above on video calls, phone and text to talk over / show us every detail of the build, which we were forced to do virtually for eight months. Glenn guided us patiently through so many questions and made sure that we knew our options for features, materials, budget, and timelines. When we were finally able to see our house when nearly complete, everything was beyond our expectations. My wife and I were continually impressed with the knowledge and work ethic of the outstanding Halldale crew and after having spent a good deal of time with them on location as they finished, we actually miss having them around. The only way that this would have been better is if they would have let us have more time with the Halldale good boys (Chevy and Max - the crew pups) . If anyone is seeking a great house with outstanding quality for a fair price, look no further.

Glenn and his team we incredible! We were a new build and a big undertaking with 3 stories and a large deck on the third floor. They completed all of our framing and making the project fully weather tight. We appreciated Glenn and his teams advice along the way, this project would not have been a success without their recommendations. Following the completion of their work Glenn has remained in touch to provide additional guidance and support, and offered to help us with any obstacles we may face as we work to finish this project. Great experience and highly recommended!

Halldale Builders performed work to add an in--law apartment onto our existing home, consisting of one bedroom, great room, kitchen area, bath. They joined the buildings with a mud room on the inside and a farmer's porch stretching the length of both buildings on the exterior. They do impeccable wood work. My closets, window and door trim, floor boards are all beautiful. They built cathedral ceilings in tongue and groove pine which are gorgeous. They installed a LifeProof floor which I am very pleased with. After the initial experience, we increased our budget and plans extensively to include more features. The construction included a complex roof which they managed without issue. They always had good suggestions and made the whole process worry-free. Any problems were quickly met with solutions. The owner, Glenn, helped me manage work being done through other companies, for example, we swapped out our heating system for an entirely new system to span both buildings. These builders have all the right contacts for cement work, electrical, plumbing, etc. I would wholeheartedly recommend Halldale Builders for any home construction project. These guys are perfectionists and truly care about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. Perhaps the best testament of their work....We are in their queue waiting to get work done on the original house when they can fit us in.

Working with the owner Glenn Couturier of Halldale Builders and his crew was a joy .. The were methodical in their approach to blending the new addition with the existing home. Reliable and ethical !! They were here every day.! Which to me says volumes. Started June 2014 ending Oct 2014. Glenn explained everything as the construction was in progress. From my vision and wish list to choosing building materials, ie new windows, doors, tile for the new bath room. He would share with us the work for the week .. keeping us informed every step of the way. If there was any issue he would let us know and we would talk it over. Another example of how very ethical he was .. He would always give us alternatives / options to make informed decisions. Glenn is a man of his word, his craftsmanship and attention to detail, all these qualities are what sets him apart from other contractors, in my humble opinion. Our forever home, our vision and dream is now a reality .. every detail, all the finishing touches from outside to inside .. is our dream come true. He is like family to us .. and his crew !! We hit the jackpot when we found Glenn. Our project included a tear down and rebuild of our home. The project was completed on time and within budget. Glenn and his team are honest hard working professionals who kept us up to date as the project progressed. Glen and Matt are the contractor/Builders you would wait in line for. Never have I had a better experience estimates are right on the money and Glen's honesty is never in question. Several times he was able to pass on materials savings to us, and the quality of workmanship--perfection! Matt and Glen maintain the highest level of professionalism in their personal conduct. I would trust them with my house and all of my belonging without a care--they are as trustworthy as it gets. When we need builders for any more remodeling or building, we will only use Halldale Builders. I stand four-square behind this review even several years later.
