Khmer Road Sculpture

I received a recommendation from a friend to contact Terrell Kaucher of Khmer Road Sculpture when I arrived in Thailand (2008) to visit some ancient sites. We've developed a friendship through our mutual interest of Buddhism and the early stone sculptures associated with Buddha. The "Guardians of Buddhism" sculptures release notification was my first knowledge of their existence. The historical summaries and photographs I received, has prompted me to comment on their quality of craftsmanship and content. These deep relief, hand sculpted stone wall plaques are unique and add an Asian touch compliment to any decor. Beautifully carved in a warm natural color sandstone and very collectible. Thank you for your suggestions, via the photographs, on where to place the busts at in various rooms. They convey a very peaceful theme throughout the house. They are each so different and there are so many options as to their placement, based on the decor of the individual room selected. Another aspect, which is so enjoyable, is the educational nature of your choice of Buddhas based on cultural backgrounds. The accompanying engraved copper plaque, and the elegant design of each adds to the individual character of every room. Anxiously awaiting your delivery of the Chinese warrior stone relief wall panels. They should be the finishing touch to my entry way.

I wanted to take the time to let you know my opinion of your busts. Frankly I have been amazed by the number of busts available to the Internet. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity of seeing your busts before they are placed in the display you have planned in Southern California. Two aspects of your collection which struck me as unique. First, the decision to include a descriptive, which greatly enhances the individual character of each bust. Most of the world does not understand the amazing variety of interpretations of this historical figure. Second was the decision to select a different stone material for each bust. These give the busts both an aesthetic as well as a cultural difference as your decision on which stone to choose had a historical aspect.
