Los Angeles-area designer and installer of sustainable, low-water and native gardens. We design residential and commercial garden spaces for beauty and enjoyment, outdoor dining, recreation and ceremonies. We specialize in low water and Mediterranean plantings as well as creating vegetable, herb and fruit gardens. We are often asked to replace lawn-based landscapes, and do so with carefully selected plantings and landscaping materials to ensure efficient use of irrigation and absorption of rain water (converting or installing new drip irrigation systems as needed). Today, native grass lawns are helping homeowners with kids and pets benefit from having a lawn while maintaining their commitment to using less water. Alan Resnick

Lauri is easy to work, competent, and very knowledgeable. If she doesn't know an answer to a question, she doesn't play a game and make something up, she tells you she will find out and she does. Her ideas for our complete project were solid and beautiful. She is "on the job" and the landscape installers Lauri uses are the Best; Sandoval Garden and Landscape Services. An ongoing relationship is the best thing and that's what we have with Lauri.

I love working with Alan and Kathy in part because they had done their homework on plants and and it opened my eyes to their visioning of the garden enabling me to elaborate and "paint" with their colors and textures. Every time I visit I take numerous photos as you can see by this page. The light and shadow play, the colors (again) and the amazing citrus collection always attract my attention and fawning. Alan's knowledge of citrus is refreshing and unique among most home citrus growers. I knew it would be a perfect fit to introduce him to Fruitstitute.org to make sure that no stone would be left unturned in the ongoing care of the orchard.

Working with Lauri on my vision of my Medicine wheel and Lagyrinth Garden could not have been a more smooth experience. From my perspective I thought it would be almost impossible to do the scope Of work I had envisioned. She and her team made it seem effortless. From taking me to pick out huge boulders and rock to picking plants, to excavating the landscape. It seemed seemless. I can’t reccomend Lauri and her team enough.

Lauri and her team are OUTSTANDING! We asked Lauri to design and completely redo our backyard and challenging steep hill behind our home, the seemingly impossible...to us, at least. What we have now is an incredibly beautiful, lush, fragrant terraced outdoor space with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views. It’s a haven for us, our grandkids and friends, and it’s always buzzing with life: so many hummingbirds, honey bees, butterflies! It’s been less than a year since completion and all the plants are already huge and vibrant, and there has been constant blooming all year. I can’t say enough about Lauri and her team. They are exceptional: expert, hardworking, professional, respectful of the land and environment, and simply a joy to work with.

The Swifts’ backyard garden romanced me from my first visit. A winding, beautifully weathered stone stairway, hand built by the diminutive previous owner shared muse status with the Swifts. Their imprint was perfectly expressed in the lower yard full of a meandering koi pond, flagstones and lush plantings. All a garden designer’s dream!
