Rocco Fiore & Sons, Inc

We hired Rocco Fiore & Sons to design and build out two separate 1,000 sqft rooftop deck spaces. We just completed a massive renovation of our condo and were excited to tackle the outdoor space. Our contact, Tim, recommended a beautiful design. I signed all the contracts, paid the deposits, and that's where things started to get weird. Our custom planters arrived a month late and the final invoice was oddly marked up higher than the original price (glad we caught that). I can overlook those things - I know it take a village to get large construction projects over the line. The planters were finally here and I was told that installation and plantings were going to take one week. We started asking questions when our home still looked like a construction zone going into week two. One of the workers told me that the plantings weren't going to be installed for awhile because of a problem. I immediately phoned Rocco Fiore and Tim informed me that they didn't have the necessary structural documentation to determine if these planters with plantings will fit within the load limits of our deck spaces. We were baffled as to why these planters/plantings were recommended without understanding the load constraints. We already ordered custom planters based on their design and were stuck with them. Rocco decided to abruptly halt construction and Tim started working on finding the structural documentation for the roof under our decks. He filed a FOIA, but the "as built" plans needed are nowhere to be found. We're still going back and fourth with them. It's like pulling teeth trying to get updates. I've asked repeatedly to speak directly with Rocco and he's never called me. This project started in June. Now it's December and both of our decks are still filled with empty planters and soil bags. The last update I received from Tim stated that Rocco was trying to recommend a different group to take over this project. They don't want to take on the liability of overloading our decks so they're finding someone else who will. This whole situation they put us in is crazy and unfair. We just want our money back to hire a more diligent firm to finally complete our renovation. The fact that they would even consider dumping this project on us after making a huge planning mistake is downright unethical and unprofessional. UPDATE: Rocco Fiore was able to get a structural engineer to sign off on the project to move forward. Our outdoor spaces are beautiful.
