Distinctively Modern Bathroom

After the successful renovation of the homeowner's kitchen in their Colonial home in Belmont, Feinmann was asked to tackle the master bath and bedroom. The existing master bathroom was small, so the family agreed to let Feinmann turn a rarely used guest room into a walk-in closet. This created the opportunity to then use a 6' closet as additional space for the their new master bathroom - one befitting the master bedroom in terms of scale. By doing this, the new bathroom could include a generous shower, bathtub and dual sink vanity, ample storage, and display areas. The homeowners requested a bathroom that would be both luxurious and at the same time peaceful. Feinmann chose to combine bold colors and materials to achieve the desired effect. The look and feel of the bathroom is vibrant and clean. Colored glass tiles were used as backsplashes and repeated in the shower. The blue glass contrasts nicely the African mahogany wood cabinetry which was used sparingly, yet still provided ample storage. Creative uses of the layering of glass in the room allow the colors and finishes to shimmer. The delicate frosted glass vessel sinks pop against the verde alga granite, and the built-in shelves allow the homeowners to showcase artwork and vases. To create the feeling of privacy between the bathing area and the commode, Feinmann created a visual separation between the two, without having to partition them. The clients now have a master bath that itself is a centerpiece. Photography by John Horner
