This large residence for a young family of four is located in the suburbs of Northern Virginia on a forty-five acre site.
Though large in scale, the house’s interior creates an intimate environment that reflects the personality and lifestyle of the family. The use of local stone, cedar siding, and stucco on the exterior of the house allows for the natural integration of the house and its wooded surroundings.

The party favors were petite pies that I made and put on each plate, wrapped up in a little fabric scrap, and added a little tag cut from kraft paper. I used my recipe that I made for HGTV: http://www.hgtv.com/entertaining/petite-pie-party-favors/index.html

1/2" black felt was cut in 14" lengths with a round bump that gave us an undulating pattern across the room in the space between the ceiling and floor.
This provided sound proofing qualities in an artful way.
This is an installation never before attempted by Zintra and MDC.

We found this rock cracked at the rock yard. Some might see this as a flaw (it had been there a while), but I saw an opportunity to fill the crack with plants, creating something special. These are ghost plants (graptopetalum).

Note wine barrel raised garden beds around the Pergola beams. These can act as planters or even table tops.
