Le pareti blu con riquadri tipo boiserie non riducono la sua luminosità. Il calorifero dello stesso colore è stato collocato in nicchia, a fianco della libreria.

Cet appartement se situe sur les deux derniers étages d’un ancien hôtel particulier avec des vues incroyables sur les toits et les monuments de Paris. C’est donc un duplex de 220 m2 avec un grand espace de réception décloisonné et plusieurs chambres et salles de bain. Les clients ayant beaucoup résidé à l’étranger souhaitaient s’installer définitivement dans ce bel appartement. Pour cela il fallait le refaire à leur goût en collant à leur style de vie. Les enfants de ce couple sont grands, ils commencent eux-même à avoir des enfants. Certains habitent à l’étranger et il était important qu’il y ait un espace pour recevoir enfants et petits enfants confortablement. Nous avons respecté le style et les contraintes du bâtiment. Les anciens propriétaires avaient créé des pièces consécutives dans l’espace vie/convivialité et les clients préféraient ouvrir au maximum. Nous avons refait de nombreux éléments dans les règles de l’art, et notamment les moulures en staff, les vitraux à l’ancienne, la cheminée du salon qui avait été détruite ainsi que les parquets en très mauvais état. Toutes les fenêtres de l’appartement ont été changées en respectant le style de l’existant. Cheminée entièrement refaite à l’ancienne, menuiserie sur mesure en mdf peint et en placage chêne naturel, électrification LED des menuiseries, volets intérieurs en bois à panneaux sur fenêtres gueule de loup à l’ancienne. Vitraux entièrement refaits, moulures staff reprises entièrement... Tout le soin a été apporté à cette belle rénovation pour un résultat optimal. A bespoke wall unit houses the owners’ extensive vinyl collection. The deep plywood window seat invites you to pause and take in the view, with built-in drawers providing smart storage for toys and everyday clutter. A natural material palette, accented with pops of colour, keeps the space warm and inviting, while slatted panels enhance acoustic comfort in this open-plan setting.

Situated within a Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea conservation area, this unique home was most recently remodelled in the 1990s by the Manser Practice and is comprised of two perpendicular townhouses connected by an L-shaped glazed link. Initially tasked with remodelling the house’s living, dining and kitchen areas, Studio Bua oversaw a seamless extension and refurbishment of the wider property, including rear extensions to both townhouses, as well as a replacement of the glazed link between them. The design, which responds to the client’s request for a soft, modern interior that maximises available space, was led by Studio Bua’s ex-Manser Practice principal Mark Smyth. It combines a series of small-scale interventions, such as a new honed slate fireplace, with more significant structural changes, including the removal of a chimney and threading through of a new steel frame. Studio Bua, who were eager to bring new life to the space while retaining its original spirit, selected natural materials such as oak and marble to bring warmth and texture to the otherwise minimal interior. Also, rather than use a conventional aluminium system for the glazed link, the studio chose to work with specialist craftsmen to create a link in lacquered timber and glass. The scheme also includes the addition of a stylish first-floor terrace, which is linked to the refurbished living area by a large sash window and features a walk-on rooflight that brings natural light to the redesigned master suite below. In the master bedroom, a new limestone-clad bathtub and bespoke vanity unit are screened from the main bedroom by a floor-to-ceiling partition, which doubles as hanging space for an artwork. Studio Bua’s design also responds to the client’s desire to find new opportunities to display their art collection. To create the ideal setting for artist Craig-Martin’s neon pink steel sculpture, the studio transformed the boiler room roof into a raised plinth, replaced the existing rooflight with modern curtain walling and worked closely with the artist to ensure the lighting arrangement perfectly frames the artwork. The project was the result of a highly collaborative design process between the client and architect. This collaboration led to a design outcome which prioritised light, expanding volumes and increasing connectivity both within the home and out to the garden. Within the complex original plan, rational solutions were found to make sense of late twentieth century extensions and underutilised spaces. Compartmentalised spaces have been reprogrammed to allow for generous open plan living. A series of internal voids were used to promote social connection across and between floors, while introducing new light into the depths of the home.
