Cette pièce ouverte sur la cuisine servait de salle de jeux pour les enfants et chambre d'amis mais était peu fonctionnelle. Il manquait de rangement et d'une séparation occasionnelle pour l'intimité des invités. Nous avons créé une "cloison" ouverte grâce à un claustra et des rangements des deux côtés de la pièce. Un grand rideau en lin a été installé, pouvant être ouvert ou fermé selon les besoins, et se rangeant discrètement dans un coffrage prévu à cet effet.

Après un confinement et la mise en place du télé travail ce salon manquait d'harmonie et d'ergonomie pour l'ensemble des activités : travail, repas, jeux, repos ... L'idée était donc de concevoir un ensemble de rangements linéaire et épuré permettant de stocker des livres, dvd, jeux vidéos, chaîne hi-fi, matériel informatique, documents et dossiers de travail ... Le projet c'est donc décidé sur un seul mur de la pièce, avec des placards/niches toute hauteur, un meuble bas et un espace bureau au dessus duquel on retrouve également des rangements. Le panneau de bois habille le mur, tout en permettant de dissimuler la partie technique (électricité, équerre du bureau ...). Tous les éléments sont stockés et dissimulés pour un résultat épuré et harmonieux.

The client brief for the space was a cocooning retreat for adults to escape to. We chose a paper backed linen wall covering to add texture and warmth and wrapped the blue paint colour on all the woodwork and over the ceiling. This helps envelop the space and creates a soothing effect allowing the jolt of colour to come from the orange wool loveseat rather than the typical plane of white on the ceiling. We were lucky to work wth the clients' extensive art collection and antique armoire. We recvered the existing footstool but everything else we sourced specifically for the project. The antique drinks cabinet was a particularly great find. The clients inherited the shutters from the previous owners and liked the privacy they offered. We felt they needed softening to work with cocooning feel of the space so designed these dress curtains on a covered lathe. There was an existing unattractive gas fire which we replaced with a brick slip chamber and gas log effect fire.

The opposite side of the living room was also in need of a touch of character. The addition of the textured panelling painted in a light blue provided a simple yet effective finish to the wall, whilst also reflecting the vertical lines of the existing cabinetry. The panelling provides a beautiful backdrop to display the family's collection of ceramics, plants and treasured art.
