Cottage concept. Architectural integration in a shack where animals lived. Environment with minimal human intervention. Stone Shack Concept Typical settlement of mountain architecture. Local construction systems. Wall stone and roof slate taken from the environment. Volcanic Hills LANDSCAPE Northern Sierra of Guadalajara Natural environment Northern Sierra of Guadalajara LOCATION Albendiego is located in a wide valley between the Sierra del Alto Rey and the surroundings of the Sierra Pela. The town is located on the banks of the Manadero River. Neolithic Settlements POPULATION From the certainty that in these lands there were some Neolithic settlements and a caveman population, perhaps of Celtiberian origin, Albendiego has always been populated. CONCEPTUALIZATION We consider factors such as the environment, orography, climate, orientation, electromagnetic contamination and radiation lines to start. Through a holistic design, environmental deterioration can be counteracted by implementing systems based on ethical development principles and through the responsible promotion and exploitation of resources and the optimization of the materials used. SELF SUFFICIENCY We study the concept, shape and design of spaces as self-sufficient units, applying concepts of energy efficiency and sustainability. Thermal self-regulation. Solving the bioclimatic space with responsibility and creativity. From the first, we assume the approaches as something inherent in the total design. From the second the strategies to solve them. Minimum needs for a LIFE IN FULLNESS The space that a robot occupies is not lived by you. Don’t give your space or your freedom to the maintenance of artifacts. The building receives sunlight from the South and the West. Thus, the main openings are oriented to the South on the first floor and to the West sun on the ground and first floors. All the gaps in the façade have been collected in 3 large windows of 2×2 m from the ground. In this way, the wall gives its width to the horizontal surface of the floor and the window openings are reduced to 3 to respect the old wall as much as possible. Floor 0 receives energy from the sun from its West window and from the light set of the staircase, which occupies the entire vertical projection P0-P1.
