New Old House

Dining Room: The dining room ceiling was inspired by a visit to Carek’s Meat Market which is in a quaint little building in Roslyn, WA and is almost 100 years old. If you ever get a chance to stop in there they have delicious Alder smoked sausages, pepperoni, and jerky! The board and batten wainscot detail is similar to what you would find in the nicer homes in Seattle during the early 1900’s and is completed with a plate rail on top. A dining room built in the Seattle residence of E. Ryder and featured in the June 1913 issue of Bungalow Magazine has a kindred feel. The picture nook provides a central display area for a work of art. Sam Van Fleet
