Oxfordshire Architect: Cotswold Farmhouse Rebuilt
Following a terrible fire we have worked closely with our clients to rebuild this beautiful Cotswold farmhouse. This fantastic project is now reaching completion.
Client Brief
In 2017, in an idyllic Cotswold village, a large proportion of this original farmhouse burnt down in a devastating fire. Our clients approached our team and asked us to rebuild the farmhouse within the footprint of the original home.
The Process
We needed to approach this project sympathetically to retain the original features of the building. We also had to ensure all the remaining windows were surveyed to rebuild them to match the originals. Special attention was needed for the principle west elevation and main entrance, so the finished project would be identical from this angle. A fresh design ensued, retaining much of the character to the exterior, while creating changes to the interior in order to adapt the layout for modern family life.
With five bedrooms upstairs, two en-suite, a family bathroom and dressing room, and a peaceful craft room, the layout has also been arranged for optimal socialising. There is now also a stunning architecturally designed orangery, formal drawing room, substantial boot room, utility and contemporary home cinema.
The Result
We are thrilled to announce progress on-site has gone from strength to strength and the house is soon to be the perfect family home. The exterior of the property is almost completed, roof tiles are on and the windows are being fitted. We managed to source Cotswold stone to match that of the old structure and the windows have all been carefully copied and reproduced. From the principal west elevation, the home is identical to the original. Yet look closer and the house - while still retaining its character and features - is more wonderful than ever before and perfectly suited to modern family living.
