The stairway of this home also acts as a thermal chimney. The Velux skylight seen above can be opened. The height of the space then creates a thermal gradient which causes air to rise, pushing its way out of the skylight as cool air is drawn in from the first floor. The wood clad wall is covered in Cedar tongue and groove siding which was left over from the job. Most of it was used to enclose the exterior eves.
