There was not enough space beside the door for a desk, but there is enough to continue the desk up to door to provide continuity and eliminate the "blunt " end of a desk in profile as you enter the room. This provides extra storage suitable for books or shoes.
A shallow shelf for ornaments and pens provides a great opportunity to cast light onto the desk with an integrated LED strip light. Melamine finish on the desk is very durable and colour matched polyurethane finish on the shaker doors is gentle on the eyes.
