Ever wonder what a million dollar remodel looks like? We had the privilege of renovating a 1979 Hill Country Contemporary, that happened to be owned by James Michener during the time he wrote the epic novel "Texas".
The new homeowners wanted to turn this incredibly dated house with spectacular views of Lake Austin, into a Tuscan fantasy villa.
The homeowners gave me total autonomy. Which was a dream come true. Their only request was that they owned a substantial wine collection and needed room to showcase it.
We ended up turning what once was the formal dining room into a 2000 bottle wine cellar, added an outdoor living area, new facade and redesigned the interior to include a new laundry room, new formal dining room, steam shower, media room and new master bedroom and bath. Between the pool addition and the whole house remodel. We garnered national and international awards. Mowry Pools walked away with "Most Beautiful Pool in the World" from the Master Pool Builder's Guild, and our former company, won "Best Remodel in Region 5, Whole House" with the National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI), as well as winning the local NARI "Best in Tour of Homes".
We started and finished the project in a little under 8 months. We incorporated smart house technology, and a lot of emerging green technologies like LED lighting, stained concrete porches and recycled antique furniture as cabinetry and light fixtures.
