Open adjustable shelving for pantry is good. If cost permits, I like [full extension] pullout drawers for the lowers.

The [full extension] pull-out drawers in the lowers on the left are terrific. I also like adjustable (if possible) open shelving for the pantry. Matching the color in the pantry to the accent color on the island seems like a nice approach. Wooden countertops are not appealing in a functional sense (too easy to water spot, etc.). I like this approach to pantry shelves and drawers better than closed cabinets and drawers more typical in kitchens. It's hard to tell how distorted this picture is, but the drawers and shelves feel too wide to be structurally sound.

Shaker style door and drawer panels. I like more simple panels, complex and curvy patterns feel "busy" to me.

Maybe something to think about: White uppers and color on the base cabinets and island (although this base color is too dark for me)? Focusing on the SubZero: We haven't decided yet on paneled FZR/REF or stainless. I don't like the upkeep on stainless. How does the cost of cabinet-matching panels compare to stainless?

This color is OK in intensity, but something more blue or green. We lived in Boston for 9 years and I like the New England "Yankee" style of muted blues and greens for kitchen and pantry applications. I also like the white cabinets (although other bright colors would be possible as well).

If we don't go with white cabinets and an accent color on the island cabinets (and perhaps wall bases), then I would opt for white oak cabinets, but with a lighter tone than these.

I LOVE full-extension pull outs drawers in lowers. My old bones don't like to bend over or kneel down!!! This is the type of set up I want under my Induction cooktop, but we'll need to explore a two vs three-drawer configuration.

The blind dove tails in the drawer box. I also like the utensil tray, but not necessarily a double-stacked version.

The craftsman style light fixtures are kind of nice (but not to indicate this style is one I want), but my main emphasis with light fixtures is that they need to be simple --- gaudy fixtures really bother me. I've even been interested in some of the kitchen pictures where the lights (in addition to standard cans for general lighting) don't descend, but are in or mounted on the ceiling - no idea if this is a good thing, or not. One thing to keep in mind is that with the cooktop on the island we will need some directed light on the cooking surface (since we are using a downdraft rather than an overhead vent system with lights).

The sink faucet system will be VERY important for me, and at this point I almost don't care how much it costs. I have had really bad luck with all of the faucets I've had over the years, but I've never tried this style of main faucet. We do use a triple filter reverse osmosis water source, with a small faucet like the one pictured here on the left of the main faucet.

The gray is nice for a great room, not sure how dark the gray should be for this application, and I like white ceilings.

We have tried one room with a "bolder" darker color (almost a plum red, and we liked it). I quite like this blue, even though it is a bit darker than we might try on our own (help us explore the benefits of deeper colors and we might try it!).
