TimeCustom and semi-custom cabinets take time to design, construct and install. With stock cabinets, the construction and design time is avoided — just grab them off the shelf or wait a few days for shipping. Still, even fully assembled custom, semi-custom or stock cabinets require installation, which, depending on the complexity of the job, isn’t always simple. Cabinets shipped in a ready-to-assemble state will require assembly time in addition to installation time. If you’re designing a new kitchen, expect the design time to take at least two to three weeks; construction time will probably take another four to eight. Installation can sometimes be completed in a day; in other cases, it may take a week or so. Keep in mind that we’re talking only about the cabinets here. Other elements, such as counters, floors, trim elements and electrical and plumbing work might all add time to your project and affect the cabinet work.
