Backyard

Here are some thoughts about the backyard. Three objectives for usage: pool/swimming, entertaining, space to kick the soccer ball or run some cartwheels. Feeling - non fussy, wild growth - realize this takes time. I think the Lopez house is a good reference. As much as I'd like to to do the northwestern Washington vibe, I understand the limitations due to geography/irrigation challenges. Maybe we can mix in the arid trees/shrubbery/oak.

The patio is local bluestone, the steps are granite, and the floor inside the home is concrete.

Hi, this porch is Pennsylvania Bluestone. Very similar to Flagstone.

I'm assuming this is what the paver/grout-filled-in idea would look like?

Can we do the "homemade" paver look instead of hardscape around the pool, like this?

Q

Foto

Kidney-shaped pool with grass and pavers approach

Q

Foto

Like how the grass ends naturally with dirt border. Like trees/ground covering

Q

Foto

More natural fire pit.

Q

Foto

Like the hardscape - alternative to grass in between pavers. But pain-in-the-ass for pool???

Q

Foto

Ahhhh, can you just make it look like this?!

Q

Foto

Love the brick! Too expensive, huh? And doesn't really go with the p-dotted coping.

Q

Foto

Interesting approach - goes with our existing coping?

Q

Foto

Ground covering in foreground, pavers with grass & tiled pavers in background - like it messy.

Q

So we feel like this is the reality of our LA arid temp & foliage. This feels a bit too fussy tho. But like the combo of some arid planting with larger trees & grass. Maybe this would feel less modern with irregular paver stones with grass in between?

Q

pavers around pool - would this compete with polka-dotted coping? landscaping is a little fussy but like overall takeaway.

Q

Foto

Overall feeling. Not crazy about hardscape.

Q

Overall feeling. Like the grass/trees combo
