Exceptional Design and Impeccable Service. I recently had the pleasure of working remotely with Flo Mangan to redo our guest bath, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Her meticulous attention to detail and high level of expertise ensured that every fixture, tile, paint, and fabric selection was not only lovely, but also durable, functional, and easy to maintain. She sourced the medicine cabinets and lighting to perfectly match the Kohler Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass plumbing fixtures. The entire design process was a collaborative effort, and she took the time to understand my preferences and incorporated them seamlessly into the final design. Flo goes over and beyond to help! She presents not just one idea but several. She researches ideas thoroughly. Also she uses photos of your furniture and area and superimposes her ideas so you can visualize very well. Also she follows up and likes to see your results.

Flo is an expert in many design styles, and she is a natural leader on Houzz. I have "met" Flo on many of the discussion threads in Houzz. She adds to any design conversation, and she will go above and beyond to help and support an online client. She is a great teacher and guide to help any client find or enhance his/her personal style. It has been a dream come true for me working with Flo on our disjointed and dysfunctional living room. She has transformed the space into something beautiful and functional using almost all of our existing pieces. First off, furniture placement was completely changed. The traffic pattern was terrible in the beginning and now we have an excellent and pleasing flow. She was tireless and patient with my hesitations, presenting numerous to scale floor plans. We have quite a lot of fine art in disparate styles. She was able to help us integrate them into a pleasing presentation of all of it. She supported me while I chose additional reproductions to form a gallery wall. The end result is fabulously colorful and happy. It completely lifts the room. Our furniture pieces are good quality , some vintage and are still pleasing to us. The configuration just didn’t show anything off to full advantage. We brought in pieces from other rooms and Flo worked with me patiently as I explored every possible option of upholstery fabric. In the end, I just trusted Flo and the result was stunning. My husband commented daily for quite awhile how much he loved the changes. As others have said, Flo is extremely generous with her time. She truly seems to love what she does. She has given me new confidence in my own instincts. Especially, during past year of isolation, harder than ever to make design decisions alone. I can’t begin to express how great it has been to work with Flo through the process of building our new home. She has been with us virtually from reviewing our plans and making suggestions on them to giving me confidence in choosing plumbing, cabinets, counter tops and wall colors. I chose Flo to help me because of her kind replies to questions on Houzz and I don’t feel like I could have made a better choice based on her knowledge and her personality. I’ve referred a friend to her already and will continue to do so in the future! 2022 Update: Now that we are in our home, I wanted to take the time to say again how great it was to work with Flo and to add some photos. Building during Covid (shortage of materials and labor) was a painful process and I couldn’t have done it without Flo. I have no hesitation recommending her!

For the past two years, Flo has walked alongside me, project by project, as my husband and I renovated nearly every surface in our home. I first reached out to Flo after she graciously provided advice on one of the design dilemmas that I posted on Houzz. She is incredibly generous with her time so I knew I wanted to hire her for virtual consultations for our whole house renovation projects. I have been the project manager of remodels in many different homes but this time it’s our dream home so I wanted a creative partner to bounce ideas off of. Flo immediately understood my design style and helped me every step of the way. On more than one occasion she calmed me down when contractors did shoddy work or when they didn’t even bother to show up. She helped me evaluate the options to get back on track quickly. Most of our conversations have been by email or text, which is perfect for me. Those communication modes gave me time to think about what I wanted to convey and to provide the necessary detail so that Flo could see the big picture and provide meaningful replies. If something was proving to be too convoluted to explain via email/text Flo would suggest that we have a phone call. And, she has always been patient, even when I came up with design ideas that were a little too wild or impractical that I probably would have regretted later. We greatly enjoyed working with Flo in coming up with design ideas for our new home. Being new to the Houston area, we weren't sure who or how we could ask for help for interior designs. Flo's high ratings on houzz and availability to take on any size projects lead us to contact her. Our home has an open concept design; and we were racking our brains on trying to come up with designs that would look elegant and fill the space. Flo provided guidance on defining our living and dining space with a modern and elegant look. She provided design layouts for the walls on both the spaces that gave our home its modern elegant look. In addition, she provided information on places to shop for accents, mirrors etc. and also provided pictures and ideas on what we should be looking for. She also connected us with quality professionals who brought her designs to life. She provided ample guidance and store recommendations during furniture shopping. This helped us immensely in picking furniture with good quality and also flowed with the style of theme we were designing for. During shopping, she was always available to provide feedback on the photos of the furniture, accent pieces etc.we texted her. This was a great help for us and saved us the sorrow later from purchasing pieces that were not of good quality. Flo has great insights on material quality, durability and maintenance which she shared when purchasing our living room rug, buffet table, bedroom sets, etc. She also took time to accompany us to stores while shopping for accessories that had a modern look and also to show different ideas on pieces that could work with our designs/theme. I ‘met’ Flo in February 2019 when she replied to a Design Dilemma regarding countertop and backsplash options for the kitchen I was remodeling. I had purchased appliances, ordered cabinets and hired a contractor but could not figure out the other parts. Flo’s responses to my design dilemma demonstrated her positive approach to design and decorating. No critical words, only helpful suggestions with gentle guidance towards better choices. Six months later, thanks to Flo’s amazing abilities in all areas, not only do I have a beautiful, highly functional kitchen, but my laundry room, den and living/dining room bring me joy everyday. Flo is truly a Jill-of-all-skills from technical details like making sure you have the right type of backing materials and grout for each of your tile choices to visioning how a piece of art will work or not work in a critical spot. She is also an excellent ‘people person’. She quickly figured out my strengths and weaknesses and allowed me to do the parts of the project I enjoyed while she shored up all the areas I left lacking. And she is amazingly generous with her time as well as her many talents. She is passionate about helping people create wonderful spaces and her energy level and dedication are unbelievable. I also really appreciate the way Flo charges for her services. With each project, we discussed what help I needed and then she gave me a price. In each case, Flo’s help was worth so much more than the fee I paid. I would recommend Flo to anyone who is working on any home related project – we worked on so many different design/decorating tasks and she excelled at every one of them. And she is fun to work with!

Paint is hard. Do yourself a favor and hire Flo BEFORE buying 25 samples - you will save yourself a lot of money and headaches!

Partway through a home renovation on a budget, I realized I was in over my head and needed the help of a designer. I had seen Flo's comments on the Houzz Design Dilemma feature and was first drawn to her knowledgeable, generous and courteous style, and appreciated how she addressed good design in the context of the original poster's goals, without taking a cookie-cutter or "I know best" approach. Once I invited Flo to work with me on the rest of our home reno, I knew just how lucky I was to have her on board. Flo combines an incredible wealth of practical design knowledge with true creativity and dedication for understanding her client's tastes, lifestyle and budget. While all good designers should take that approach, Flo has an unusual gift that goes far beyond design formulae. As we worked together, I found that she understood my vision for my home better than I could articulate it, gently steering, challenging, supporting and inspiring me. Always gracious and gentle, but unfailingly honest, Flo made suggestions, found products, provided designs and really listened to me, demonstrating a genius for finding the perfect elements, often below budget. Not only that, she was a generous teacher, so that I understand in ways I never have before why something works or doesn't, and how to cut through a plethora of options to find what I need and will love. All this despite the fact that Flo and I live in almost opposite corners of the continent and we did all our work together electronically and by phone! My initial hesitation to work with a designer in order to "save money" seems quite silly in retrospect, since Flo's expertise and passion for helping us get it right saved us money in the end. Even more important, she helped us achieve a home that is far lovelier and better reflects who we are than anywhere we've ever lived. We are so grateful to Flo!

I am a first time homeowner and I was at a loss about decorating. Houzz connected me with wonderful designer Flo Mangan and she’s been amazing! She has incredible talent and a keen eye for design. She helped me with the fabric for my "hand me down" occasion chairs and made them look like a million bucks! In fact, she is helping me with my whole house. She’s so quick to respond to all my questions. When I am out shopping and see something, I simply email her a photo and dimensions and she responds back in seconds. Now I am not constantly returning wrong things I buy or get stuck with something that can't be used. My home is now so chic. I think it can even be comparable to those homes featured on Houzz! Just take a look at the before and after photos for yourself! She gets excited with you about your projects like they are her own and most of all, she cares about you. She’s not about making money; she really wants to help people. She is so generous to share her talent like this with people in need. She needs to write a book: “Decorating 101 for Dummies”.
