“My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Elida Doldan Schujman to design and develop a wine cellar. The project's expectations grew when we met Elida who gave us her insight to design a wine cellar and completely finish the construction of the basement and garage. This required extensive demolition, foundation repair, new heating system, and a very technical architectural design. Elida managed the entire project. Every detail was presented after careful research and listening to our requirements. We were extremely pleased with the results. Working with Elida was a wonderful experience. Her creative ideas and attention to the details made the difference in converting our basement to a wine cellar, gym, workshop, cedar closet, and inventory closet. She is professional, personable, and a very creative architect.”

“The Design and Building Works was key in obtaining my building permit from the City of Santa Rosa. I was in need of having drawings, plans, and specifications done for the conversion of my garage into a 1 bedroom unit, an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). The Design & Building Works put together drawings and specifications that required only one review by the Santa Rosa Building Department in order to issue me the required building permits. The drawings were complete in regards to referencing all of the required building codes, specifications and on calling out all of the correct details. Ellen Picard, owner is really easy to work with, detailed oriented, and has a very good reputation with the City of Santa Rosa Building Department. I highly recommend her and I would hire again for any project without a second thought.”

“We used Patrick on two projects. We purchased a house and needed floor plans to submit to the county. Patrick worked with our interior designer to get the plans for county review. We were very pleased with our remodel project. We also had an ambitious plan to add a second garage and a funicular (incline elevator) from the new garage to the an upper deck. Patrick performed the conceptual design for the recently completed project. We enjoyed working with Patrick on both projects.”

“I love this house every single day I'm in it. And some make a credible argument that our detached bedroom, added later, also by their design, is the best part! Inside and out flow seamlessly, which is what our psyches need. Recently we made a rookie mistake. We needed help with big plans for landscaping to be integrative with our big add-on deck. We first turned to a landscape person...FAIL. We so should have turned to Designworks first. We pitched the landscape person's lame 'concept.'; We are building to Designworks plans. (Did i mention they provided valuable consultation that added to the transformation remodel of our Boulder City desert home?)”

“I asked my neighbor for the name of the architect on his beautiful, modern, yet warm, whole house remodel. This was Mary Dooley of MAD Architecture. After I interviewed her, she "interviewed" me. I showed her pictures of the type of bathrooms and general architecture styles that I loved, so that she could get an idea of how to design my master bath remodel and expansion. Over the course of time she came back with amazing designs, materials, fixtures, etc. that were spot on. She was easy with suggestions for any changes, patient with explanations, and creative with new options. She put the plans together, put it out to bid to her contractor contacts, as well as a couple of mine. She managed this process efficiently and effectively, giving confidence in this process. There are many talented architects out there, but there is a talent that Mary has, which is how well she understands her clients, so that the process is fun and seamless. Mary is a gifted listener, as well as a gifted architect. She is a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend her.”
