“What an amazing architect Mr. Nagata was! Our family’s encounter with Mr. Nagata was at the one of Hokkaido emigration fairs held in Tokyo while we were living in Yokohama. Not to mention his talent and skill as an architect being outstanding, what he impressed us the most was that he embodied and actualized the details of our images of life after physically moving into the house just by understanding the background, our various thoughts and the reason why we desperately wanted to build a house on this land. The toughest part in the series of the “building a house” processes was the budget. Normally, if you have to give up the ideal size, materials and items due to the budget, those abandonments often lead to lower quality or less satisfaction. However, when it comes to Mr. Nagata's hands, the totally opposite output was created! By carefully reviewing each item, applying and merging different materials, he proposed the plan which was rather　better to omit the materials we initially wanted. His suggestion was indeed the scales fall from our eyes. We were so thrilled to see the house when it was completed. We would never forget the sensational feeling for the rest of our lives! Despite the downgrade or omitted materials, there was no such a sense of incongruity at all. The house looked so perfect as if it were planned just like that way from the first place. We are indeed thankful to have met Mr. Nagata at the emigration fair. I instantly felt the talent and great humanity in him at that time, since then, I had been so determined if building a house in Hokkaido, there is no one else but to ask Mr. Nagata. And we were very lucky that he accepted our request! We will never be able to thank him enough. 素晴らしい建築士さんでした。 横浜市在住の私達家族と永田さんとの出会いは、東京都内で開かれた北海道移住フェアでした。 建築士という彼の才能、技量はもちろんのことですが、私達が最も感動させられたのは、私達がなぜこの土地に家を建てたいのか、その背景、私達の様々な思い、さらには入居してからの生活のイメージまで具現化して下さったところでした。 「家を建てる」一連の作業の中での最大の壁は予算でした。通常、予算を考慮し、理想の広さ、素材やアイテムを変更、断念というと、質を下げることになる場合が多いと思うのですが、永田さんの手にかかるとその真逆のアウトプットになるのです！一つ一つのアイテムを見直し、別の素材を適用、融合することで、私達が初めに希望した素材を省く方が、その空間にとってはむしろ良かったという、目から鱗の提案を、本当に丁寧にして下さいました。 完成した我が家を目の当たりにした時の感動は、生涯忘れられないものになりました。 ダウングレードしたり、省いたアイテムがあったはずの家なのに、そのような違和感は微塵も無く、まるで最初からこれが私達の理想の家！としてプランされたかのようでした。移住フェアで初めて会った時に感じた才能、人間性、「家を建てるならこの人に！」永田さんにお願いして本当に良かったです。『感謝』の言葉しかありません。”

“小山町の家の撮影を担当させていただきました。 住まわれる人の関係性を理解した絶妙な距離感を保った空間と導線だと思いました。女性建築家ならではのキメの細かい配慮も随所にみられます。また、北海道に住んでいながら、現地の気候や土地の特性をよく研究されたことと、監理もしっかりされていたことがビルダーさんとお施主様との会話の中で感じ取ることができました。”
