“Nigel Wilson of Auspicious Furniture designed and built my kitchen and also my en suite bathroom cupboards. From the outset Nigel contributed many excellent ideas, while always taking into account my own. He spent a long time in the flat talking the project through, paying great attention to the aesthetics of the job as well as the practicalities. I live in a converted, Grade II listed, woollen mill and we both wanted the work, while being modern and functional, to fit in with the character of the mill. There were also unusual technical problems to overcome in a converted industrial building and Nigel always came up with solutions with great flair and creativity. The quality of the work and materials was exceptionally high and the whole project extremely good value. I was so pleased with the result that I went back to Nigel a few months later to make cabinets and bookshelves for my bedroom and study and window shutters for the study and kitchen. He is a craftsman who cares.”

“We live in a bungalow, and thought of removing an internal wall between the hall and the kitchen to then refurbish the kitchen and build a porch, as the front door would no longer lead into the hall. John Sangster visited some three or four times and patiently worked with us, preparing drawings and providing advice, to develop our ideas into something practical and very attractive within our budget.. When his team arrived on site, they were punctual, clean, tidy, polite and friendly; once the job started, they were continuously at it - no unexplained breaks to go off to another job. Above all, they are excellent craftsmen, the quality of their workmanship is outstanding. They have given us a durable porch and kitchen with which we are very pleased, and have attracted favourable comment from all who have come into our home. “We commissioned a bespoke kitchen and, from inception to completion of the project, the service, quality and expertise were exemplary. Phil's input and suggestions in designing the final layout and unit combination were massively helpful. He was also able to source exactly the unusual granite worktops I had in mind. The company offer the extremely useful facility to view the units as a work in progress at their factory so that changes, if required, can be made prior to installation. Another massive advantage is that, if the building work is delayed the units can be stored at their premises so there's no pressure on the customer in terms of taking delivery. The hand painted finish is to an exceptionally high quality and any snagging requirements are dealt with quickly and without fuss. When the kitchen was finally installed we discovered that we had been given an additional floor unit as a 'gift' as Phil thought the base unit run on one of the walls would look incomplete without it. He was absolutely right and I can't imagine many companies who would provide that level of personal detail. We were so delighted with the kitchen that, in addition, we commissioned a bathroom vanity unit and will doubtless have other pieces made. I am truly more than happy to recommend Grand Union Designs.”
