“Kristen designed a beautiful makeover for our yard - front, back and sides. She asked lots of questions before designing anything - what we wanted (pavers, pretty flowers), what we didn't want (water feature, yellow flowers) and in general, how we wanted to use our yard. She came up with lovely, detailed plans for a traditional looking garden (with our traditional looking house) - that were revised slightly with discussion, then found a couple of contractors to bid on the work. She supervised the work of the one we chose, making sure they followed the plans. She recommended a new gardner - good choice. About a year later she replaced the few plants that hadn't made it (for no charge), and now almost two years later the place is absolutely beautiful! I can't tell you how many complements we have received ever since the job was originally completed - and they continue to this day!”

“Aitken & Associates considered all of the elements we wished to include in the landscape of our home, together with the grading plan of our lot, and came up with a design that could accommodate our wishes. We have been enjoying the result for 10 years now, with my only regret being the things I changed on my own from the written design plan as we were executing, thinking I had just come up with "better" idea. Wrong! They know what they're doing, and you can be sure its been thought all the way through. Everyone in the office was great to work with, returning phone calls and emails in a timely manner, and showing up for scheduled appointments on time. Our design plan was done when they said it would be, and we went straight to the City to get our permits. Which brings up another thing: Aitken & Associates was clearly familiar with our City ordinances because upon review by the City, there was nothing in our landscape design plan that we couldn't get permitted. “We found Kim after putting together a design book on houzz.com. Looking through the photos, we had chosen 4 of Kim's design photos completely by accident. We reached out to her and setup an appointment to get together. She is extremely professional, explained her services, what we could expect to pay and provided references and sample design schematics from other jobs. The thing that struck us right away is that she was walking our property identifying all the plants by their scientific names and could explain why each one was doing well or doing poorly. After hiring her, she took very detailed measurements, photos and ground samples. She look through the Houzz book we created, asked us questions about how we intended to use different aspects of our space and generally get a feel for what we liked and wanted. She came back with an initial design which we reviewed in person and the first draft was great. We had a few changes and she went off to make some changes, etc. She had researched everything about our property including local zoning set-back requirements! She was awesome and we're very pleased with the final design. We are currently getting bids for landscape builders to make our final vision come to life and look forward to showing the pictures of her amazing work when we're able to!”
