We built a single storey extension on our home and decided to put a sedum green roof on it so that we had something lovely to look at out of the bedroom windows. We also wanted to replace the lost green area the footprint of the building took. The trays will also protect the roof membrane from temperature extremes.
I came across Sedum Green Roof online and their innovative S Pods. These are really clever all in one trays that contain all the necessary layers, nutrients etc. to keep your plants going for years.
I gave the roof dimensions to the company and they worked out how many trays we needed.
We decided to put them up on the roof ourselves which we managed to do with some helping hands, but the trays are heavy and reasonably large and if I were to do this again I would pay extra to have them fitted for me.
The trays can be cut as well, we just used a saw and then filled all the gaps with rounded small pebbles.
We're really pleased with how this turned out. It's finished off the extension and given our home a special feature. We can't wait to see how it looks in spring and summer.”

In our case cleaning the roof of moss, removing broken tiles, replacing broken tiles, fitting new eaves trays, felt and battens fixed to the rafters. Their attitude was very polite and friendly. They kept us fully informed of what work was being carried out. They finished it within the deadline. They kept within the budget and they worked well by causing as little disruption as possible. They found a way of leaving the front door closed as well as having a way for the power extension lead to go through. They done a very good job as the roof is now completely repaired with some new tiles and new roof lining. No mess was left by them.”
