Need help with size for floating shelves in kitchen!!

After considering all input from Houzz,I decided to go it floating shelves to the left of the cabinet to store cookbooks.

How wide should they be?

Should they go al the way to the edge?

    I personally would have them go all the way to the edge for two reasons: 1) cleaner look and 2) more useful space.

    Beautiful kitchen, btw!

    I would have them go to the edge of that wall section but not to the edge of the wall (the window).
