Fireplace remodel

Wish to remove wall of fake stone around fireplace and replace with something lighter and add a mantel.

    Great idea. And when you do, don't put a mirror over the mantel. It doesn't reflect anything interesting. Use a piece of art instead.

    Yes! Yes! The least expensive way to update this would be to get creative with mouldings and a mantle. Perhaps some picture frames would be all that you really need. Make the opening to your fireplace look larger with a light tile or an attached frame and doors or screen.
