The New American Remodeled Home

Built in 1987 in the prestigious Lake Nona Golf &
Country Club community in Orlando, this original 1980’s Florida
contemporary-style home was redesigned in a more current “modern island” style.

The home is designed with a more open, “modern island” style, incorporating classic, contemporary and interpretive design elements that aim to create a warm, comfortable environment with plenty of visual drama.

Three rooms were opened up to create one, large great room, which combines the kitchen,
dining and living spaces. The second level roof height was raised from 7 feet
to 9 feet, which is more reflective of today’s style. The home was also updated
to meet greater energy efficiency.

The kitchen was moved from a small enclosed area to the
center of the home. It boasts views into the great room and has an eat-in
dining area that opens to the pool deck. The transitional style blends
white-painted and mahogany cabinets from Kith Cabinetry. The counter tops blend
natural stone with quartz. A hidden pantry and the wine room balance out the
features. Thermador appliances make the kitchen a showstopper.

The
suite includes his and hers closets and a spa-like bathroom. The mauve bathroom
of the ‘80’s is gone, replaced with cool marbles and whites today.

The original home had small doors that opened to
a very dated pool and patio area. The redesign expanded these doorways to accommodate
large sliders and French doors opening to the new pool and deck area. The
screen cage over the pool was replaced with a more modern, motorized screen
from Phantom Screens.
