Great transformation. The only thing I wish was done differently is the floors. The different grade wood seems to clash. I think a blue slate flooring would have been perfect here.

Where did that window wall go? This contributes to a cave- like feeling.

I'm thinking a lighter colour on the walls, maybe an oyster white....also, something to look at over the sink.

Beautiful, but I couldn't live without a window over my sink area. That feature was lost with the remodel. In my world, the entire kitchen remodel would have to work around that immovable dictate. Otherwise, lovely job!

    I love your choices.
I noticed a few questions about the large wide windows above the sink, that would now be behind the refrigerator... they did not appear to have an outside view any longer. Maybe an enclosed porch or addition? Was this a fault in my perspective?
    Thank you for sharing!

I'm the least photogenic person I know, but look pretty ok in person.

Maybe that's what's going on with this kitchen. Looks like a kitchen in a cave.

Beautiful wood cabinets, but I think a dark wood island would provide a nice contrast and coordinate with the dark spots in the wood. A soft green or greenish beige wall make the light wood pop.

Love the remodel! It looks incredible, only thing I might of changed was keep the larger window for some more light, but I understand getting rid of it made space for more cabinets, which is always handy.

There's no contrast, and the granite choice instantly dates the space. You can try adding a light colored backsplash, and wall color.

It is laminate, not granite. And just for reference; we allow our customers to chose their colors according to what they want for their home. We are a design company and work WITH our clients, but we do not make decisions on color, window sizes, handrails and other things FOR them. The contractor also may influence some of the choices made, but we stand behind our designs to fit the needs our customers present to us while doing our best to improve the space for them.

@ A.L.M. What Lizzy wants is a white kitchen, white subway tile backsplash and dark floor, so your clients can be zombie sheep and follow everyone else with no charisma, character, or originality. Or even quality for that matter.

Now that part I agree with. More natural light. I have a large sliding patio door and a sink window so I have lots of natural light in the kitchen. Makes it much more inviting. But sometimes you can't put extra windows so you gotta make do with what you have.

This is just one of thousands of kitchens we have done and not a single one is like another. The layout and restrictions of the home itself dictate design- this is our reality, not like the tv shows where they always knock out walls and open up space. We cater to real people with real homes and real budgets. We do our best to make their dream kitchen the way they want it!

Those who say this looks like a cave obviously haven't been in a REAL cave. This is a real life remodel for real life people with real life budgets and other constraints. This is a remodel that was chosen by the homeowner based on their likes, not to be "on trend" for resale purposes. I like the originality. The whole reason for lights is to provide light in a room...don't have to to rely on natural light through windows, like before electricity was popular.

There have been questions about the window. The window would have been where the fridge is at now. We took it out because you were looking into a dark garage not the outside. They needed and wanted as many cabinets as they could get in the space we had. They told me that they would sacrifice daylight for cabinet space so that is what we did.

I'm currently in a remodel---I agree the homeowner has the last word on what THEY want in THEIR new space! The contractor can "suggest" options but ultimately the budget determines the outcome! I'm listening to my budget.... loud and clear!

On remark concerning lack of window. A friend of mine has same sink situation. She had someone take a empty window
Frame and had a mirror put in it.
It has the mutton frame, but it reflects the things in background and you actually feel that there is a window there.
I like it in her house.
