Can you tell me what color stain you have on the beams

We just painted our great room all white and we have 2 beams that were painted over by the prior owners. We should like to stain them in a color like that.

    I don’t know the color of the stain on those beams, but I am really hoping that you already know you can’t stain over paint. It will be a lot of work or absolutely impossible to take them down and/or to prepare them for staining. If they are too wide, you might consider “wrapping” them with wood that you stained first. Depending on whether you are knowledgeable DIYers, this might be a job to have done professionally. Working on beams overhead is no picnic.

    The stain on these fir beams is a Watco cherry stain.
