Hi there - thanks for your question. The walls in this Southern California home are painted a warm off-white while the wainscotting is a pure white. To offset original paintings like these by Trudy Montgomery, we suggest a neutral that could range from white through off-white/cream to even the currently popular grey/beige ('greige') colors. But do experiment! Some of the most powerful exhibitions I've seen at the Tate were on turquoise walls (Howard Hodgkin 2006). Good luck!
