Before & After Kitchen - What Do You Think?

Updating the outdated cabinets was one of the ways we rejuvenated this kitchen. By raising their height and giving the cabinets a new paint job, we were able to modernize this kitchen and give it a custom look without breaking the bank

Very nice and very similar to mine...except I used fantasy white on the counter of the gray island. The additional contrast / differentiation would add visual impact.

The cabinets did not need to be stripped. But they did need to be sanded and prepped with a primer.

Nice work, Casey...! For me, the to-the-ceiling treatment has most impact among your changes. I like the open section over the window. Is the remainder accessible storage space, or simply panelized wood soffit? Does it follow the cabinet line all around to the left side as well? Mark

Awesome! I love the dark island as a nice contrast to the white cabinets and how it "grounds" the kitchen.... :)

What do we think? It's a wonderful change - it's amazing how the two color choices made such a difference - richer - you were right with the wording - rejuvenate! It really did!

While I can understand why you wanted to paint the wooden cabinets...I'm failing to see this "color" everyone is so giddy about. I'm seeing a very stark, white room that needs color...badly.

nice work, I too am in the process of finishing a paint job on my 19yo oak cabinets. What happened to the 2 panels on the side of the island? just wondered why you changed that. I'm looking to add panels to my plain island to dress it up a bit :)

@ diyher We wanted to eliminate the dated overhang so we gave the island an overhaul by adding panels at each end. This covered the existing panels that you are referring to.

@Stephanie Picone the before picture is right underneath the after photo. But we’ve attached it below in case you are having issues seeing it.

why would overhangs be dated? I need mine to attach either my meat grinder or my fruit/veggie peeler when I make my black berry jam and my tomato sauce.

Overall nice job for your client. Would have been nice to replace the over-sink windows and run them to the ceiling, instead of putting in a box.
