are these 1" balusters? I love the heavier, less cluttered look vs. the standard 1/2" or 9/16" balusters. Please let me know - they seem to be hard to find and I'm wondering why they're not used more often since they're so handsome.
Hi... these balusters were custom made for this project from a local iron company. They are probably more like an 1 1/4" at the narrowest point. They are much thicker then standard balusters. They are also more expensive, but if you have the budget - custom is the way to go!!
These balusters would probably run $60 to $80 each as compared to market pieces that run around $10 each. Each one is hand forged from a piece of solid square steel. To get custom made pieces like this, you would need to use a local blacksmith or order from a reputable ornamental metal fabricator.
