What could we do to this fireplace or good as is?

We have a lot of cream in this house! Seems like this big area around the tile could use something-wood, stone, paint??

    Recess an art tile, that compliments the existing tile, in each of the larger fields of white in the fireplace face.

    A decorative plaster (Venetian plaster or stucco or LusterStone) in a coordinating color to your space would be eye catching....doing a metallic inside the "alcove" where you art is would spice it up a bit too. You could have lots of fun with a bright royal blue or that deep teal green
