Beach Resort Style
Used as a rental property, the original home’s exterior snubbed its Oceanside location and view. Its new owner wanted to maximize these assets, increasing desirability and income. To accomplish this, we added large windows to the original sunroom. A punctured false gable, accessed by a spiral stair, conceals a sun deck and hot tub. Installing a direct-vent fireplace in the living area enabled us to reduce the brick chimney height and add a coffee balcony off the tower. The detailing is pure “Stick,” and the color scheme decidedly Key West. With its fresh and appealing composition, and pergola entrance element, the home enjoys twice its original rental and income, and has become the owner’s favorite weekend off-season escape.
