Classic Space
Upon entering this home of elegant sophistication and absorbing the atmosphere of beautiful scents, romantic music and exquisite ornaments, the kitchen renovation screamed timeless elegance. Whilst receiving the brief and watching the owners enjoy each other’s company, describing with joy the wonderful memories their home represents, the design was forming effortlessly. It needed to be a blend of traditional elegance to match the balance of contemporary artwork, seamlessly marrying into the antique memoirs.
The client described their island as the hub of the home. They wanted an up stand to separate their kitchen from the dining, but they also wanted something unique. It reflects a place of general catch-up, opposed to a formal meal, yet it needed to be comfortable and beautiful.
We discussed different storage solutions, planning for the future, whilst at all times remembering that this high traffic area needs to be free flowing. We chose an elegant granite to be placed as the feature in a dark stained Oak timber veneer as the welcoming statement when approaching the kitchen from their entrance way. The feature of the granite and Oak veneer expresses a mix on contemporary and traditional influences, just like the rest of their home.
Colours were chosen by complimenting the already existing colours used throughout the home and therefore we selected colours from the Karen Walker Resene range. The tall units and overhead cupboards are a slightly darker shade from the base units, to provide interest to a large space of cabinetry.
