The CousinsThe homeowners of this house wanted to maintain the open feeling of their space, but add a little more distinction between the different zones of the first floor. By adding a structural half wall with custom shelving, we combined design and function. A stone fireplace flanked by arched windows is the main focal point of the room, while a comfortable gray sectional - piled high with pillows and throws - offers plenty of seating to gather around the TV custom fit into the shelving of the half wall. Ortal USAOur Clear 150 TS featured in the great room of the 20/20 Home designed and built for the 2012 Street of Dreams in West Linn, Oregon. The unit was installed by our local dealer Lisac's Fireplace, in collaboration with Bernard Custom Construction (builder) and Mike Barclay (designer).

Habachy DesignsThis house involved a complete make over from a rustic, traditional home to this contemporary, Asian inspired interior that you see here. We completely removed the old traditional fireplace mantel and marble surround, and replaced it with rough hewn quartzite. The built-ins were originally country looking cabinets, and were replaced with our custom designed European style cabinets and shelves. There is an Chinese latice patterned wallpaper in the niches behind the shelves. Each shelf has a light in it, so that the wallpaper shimmers! Most of the furniture was from Room and Board, and they were mixed with select mid century modern accent pieces. A traditional hand knotted, Indian rug sets the stage for all of the modern pieces and creates an eclectic feel.

Dupuis DesignThis room used to be one of the teenage girl's room, but they have decided to use this room as their TV and entertainment room. The room is small, the previous bedroom furnitures and the turquoise paint from ceiling to wall and the thick carpet gave the room a very stuffy feeling eventhough it had a very high ceiling. Both the teenagers definitely wanted white walls, space, comfort and a modern feel where they can invite friends and use it as well as a guest room. I opted for white all over, engineered white wood floor (warm to the feel, free from acariens and easy to maintain and clean), suggested the layout and the type of affordable furnitures and rugs from CB2 (they had fun and chose the furnitures and colors themselves - they made a great choice), (they loved the idea of the chalkboard wall in my home) chalkboard paint for fun which I aligned along the window, made better directional lights from the ceiling (led lights), simple suspension from CB2 to provide ambiance lighting at night and white lacquered TV/bookcase furniture from Ikea.
