Craig Reynolds Landscape ArchitectureAn empty lot that was planned from the beginning, with the collaboration of the architect, to maximize the garden space by placing the L-shaped house in one of the corners allowing for every room to have a view of the expansive garden united by a swimming pool. The property was designed to be an escape to the tropics. Along with views of the pool, the property boast an outdoor shower, grass growing between oolite pavers and a natural glade in the corner complete with a hammock between strategically placed coconuts.

Over 1,000 square feet of flagstone decking lays right up to the edge of the rock waterfall pool, the stonework continues around to an outdoor shower made with three large boulders and massive stone steps to a secret tropical pathway behind the pool grotto. From here you can climb the grotto rocks and jump into the swimming pool, or meander on to the tiki hut. Once in the pool, the swim up ledge in the grotto can be accessed from the pool’s sun shelf and is large enough to stand in.

R.S. Walsh Landscaping, Inc.This British Colonial theme new residence sits atop the ridgeline on the west end of Sanibel Island overlooking the Gulf. Carefully manicured dune and beach access offer breathtaking views from the main and upper patios of the residence to the beach and the sunset.
A lush, tropical entry runs the length of each side property line from the road, along each side of the house, to the CCCL line and provides a dense privacy barrier from the beach access path along the east property line. Tropical bamboo, white bird of paradise, traveler palms, dwarf leaf clusia and relocated native trees and shrubs make up the dense buffer.
In the front of the residence a specimen multi-stem Sylvester Date Palm anchors the center drive island while stately royal palms, foxtail palms and multi-stem adonidia palms accent the foundation of the residence. Curved coconut palms march down the driveway to the street. Individual theme gardens were created in the side yards which include a Moon Garden, Fruit Garden, Butterfly Garden, Wetland Garden, Tropical Garden and Bamboo Garden.
Architectural garden elements include a Walpole garden gate, arbor and mail box with a custom house name sign attached. As one walks the many different specimen gardens, large concrete garden benches from Curry & Co. offer a place to pause while botanical plant label stakes indicate plant species and origin. A California style espalier wall with confederate jasmine vine softens the back side of the pool wall, which is visible upon the entrance to the garages and espalier on the pool side wall for trellis bougainvillea offer vertical elements to connect the house and the landscape with tropical vegetation and color.

R.S. Walsh Landscaping, Inc.Located at the heart of South Seas Resort on Captiva Island, this beautiful Bali inspired island residence blends lush tropical plantings with contemporary architecture and hardscape elements to create an opulent island paradise.
The entry is framed with tropical Florida palms and bamboo and opens up to reveal a circular drive with a stunning specimen palm courtyard featuring multi-stem foxtails, winin palms, thrinax palms and specimen old-man palm. A serene rectilinear reflecting pool flanks both sides of the slate walk and connects the drive to the front entry. Decorative modern planters with specimen palms frame and compliment the architectural character and design of this Bali inspired residence. A breezeway at the ground level of the residence connects the front entry to the clean, modern, resort-like pool and spa at the Gulf side of the residence.
Coconut palms rise from strategically placed pool deck planters offer light shade and a tropical view from the main living level above. Outdoor living is fully realized with many seating areas on the expansive pool deck and patios above, outdoor kitchen, pool and spa and island themed furniture. The landscape at the Gulf side of the property was designed to complement the creative design of the pool with low colorful bougainvillea and plumbago plantings between the pool and open lawn. A beach path through the manicured seagrape hedge connects the pool and lawn to the expansive beach beyond in just a few short steps.
