Newnham Courtyards
A pair of small courtyards attached to the house undergoing major construction during 2018. The brief - create contemporary courtyards with a sense of drama to echo the architecture, an extension of the dining and sitting rooms with space for entertaining. A large existing shed offered an important focal point, boundary fences required a contemporary treatment, raised beds and textured, scented planting. Lighting to accent the scheme was key.
The site was difficult because of the amount of construction and the tight access. Considerable drainage was needed while appearing minimal and the shed had utility areas to be hidden.
