Red Maple
Red Maple provides cover for wildlife and nesting / breeding sites for many songbirds. Owls, woodpeckers, and squirrels nest in cavaties. Close to 300 species of caterpillars are supported, including the Rosy Maple Moth. The seeds (samaras) are eaten by a variety of birds and small mammals. Flowers are an early nectar source for bees.
