South Carolina Library
When I started designing this library/family room it had the original 1920's metal heater visible in front of the window. Since it no longer worked and removing it would require replacing the entire wood floor, I elected to cover it with millwork. To add interest and minimize the amount of wood on its front, I had 2 Oriental wall carvings inset into it. The new millwork created enough of a ledge that I could place some of their house plants as well as a large decorative lion accessory.
Because of the historic aspect of the house, I did not replace the original bookcases, instead adding accessories that would give a decorative aspect to the wall in lieu of a picture.
Because of the views into the garden and outside, I used a subtle green and blue color palette in the interiors.
