Our clients’ backyard became the site for his new home. The original dwelling remained and now provides a source of income.
Limiting the footprint was essential to preserve the garden and the beautiful existing trees. The volume is modulated to relate to the ground, street context and trees.
On the lower ground floor a hardstand, light filled workshop, laundry and study can be found. The upper ground floor is an open raised platform overlooking both the street and garden. Above are the bedrooms one of which is a flexible space for exercising or for guests.
