Garage under and living above, but not that stark. Not sure about the glass on the patio- kids, pets and lots to clean? Would be afraid of leaning on it...

Like this style, to reduce costs make it more of a box? Fewer roof line changes?? Don't know how much it helps with cost- don't want it to look dumb either.
