If it makes any difference, the house is an old Spanish Colonial Revival from the 20s. Our walls will be the same as the pictures with the open shelving (plaster, rounded corners, no window trim). I'm doing cream painted cabinets with either wood or marble countertops. I want the house to be informal.

Sometimes seeing it can help you figure out the "balance" and keep in mind it does not have to be perfect.
